Figures!

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope they bleeped the word "loo"!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope they changed all the lyrics!

"WE ROLLIN' BACK PRICE ON FRESH TROPI-CAH-NAH"

nate detritus (natedetritus), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

frankly, non-crit America only's gonna listen to this guy when he's sucking serious Billy Squier dick.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a feeling that might acquire more controversy than Janet and Justin.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:33 (twenty-one years ago)

miccio isn't about time you got klostermans balls outta your mouth?

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

noff quiff yeff

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean your 'man of the people' routine is a bit ridiculous for someone who bleeds sycophant 'might i polish your taint with my tongue again mr. dennis' naked class aspirational careerism isn't it?

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh my.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

dude if I was a careerist I'd so be writing more than one review every two months, wouldn't I? And Blender came to me, green eyes.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

particularly for someone who owes 100% his 'rock crit career' to networking and 0% to taste or talent or style or even good jokes?

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:45 (twenty-one years ago)

green eyes? are you quoting husker du on me?

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

particularly for someone who owes 100% his 'rock crit career' to networking

haha I sent an unasked for review to a guy who I once wrote a fan letter to two years earlier (the OTHER Chuck). he published it. After a second review of Good Charlotte I was asked to write the occasional review for blender.

HOW TO NETWORK THE ANTHONY MICCIO WAY.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:48 (twenty-one years ago)

second review of Good Charlotte
that should be second review (of Good Charlotte). The first was of Desaparecidos.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:49 (twenty-one years ago)

man i'll have to remember to send fan letters to people i want jobs from! how do you write doctors fan letters anyway? ("great prep! them hands were clean clean clean!")

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG DRAMA LOLLERZ

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

my first hater! Blount, I kiss you.

haha that letter was written in 2000 (it's really dorky and asks him what he thinks of Midnite Vultures and Sloan). I actually had no idea he was the Voice editor when I wrote it - I was reacting to a copy of Stairway To Hell I found at a used bookstore. The review was written in 2002. I sent him the review after reading his review in Rockcritics.com where he revealed that people just send him reviews, I had no idea.

I think you seriously overrate my careerist calculation here. But I appreciate the presumptuousness.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, don't defuse the situation. This is a fucksite more interesting than the Outkast thread.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:55 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry I just had to explain why this amuses me so much.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

blount is a nurse?

g--ff (gcannon), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

miccio you can't pretend you're not a rimjob queen if we've all seen the hershey moustache

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm studying to make x-rays!

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

but when i graduate watch out for fan letters!

cinniblount (James Blount), Tuesday, 10 February 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

is Dizzee your mom or something?

(If I don't respond to anything really quickly in the next half hour it's because I might be shelving books. I also have a career as a library clerk in State College, PA. It's all part of my plan to become the voice of the people)

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

and of course once i get a toe in i'll pull some klosterman faux-populist shit (and just like miccio/milton berle i'll steal other people's material instead of coming up with my own), and, with just a toe0in and before i've really made a single x-ray worth writing home about i'll bray and bray like the most pompous 'good x-ray makin/rock criticism is...' donkey you ever seen (a donkey who dreams of giving felix dennis a rimjob)(cf. every miccio review ever). and if any of my friends for some fucking reason turn to me for advice about making x-rays/writing hack criticism instead of giving them creative constructive criticism i'll just keep being a jackass and tell them they and their efforts are worthless - why? I GOT A CAREER TO LOOK AFTER PEOPLE!

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

my first hater! Blount, I kiss you.

and motherfuckers act like they forgot about Nate

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

eat a poo taco, gulberry

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:03 (twenty-one years ago)

miccio if you wanna renounce the bullshit you've pulled in the past or pretend you haven't pulled it that's fine, but it does mean you're gonna have to get a new schtick (which frankly i don't think you got in you)(cuz frankly i think 'dummed down klosterman' is the closest to a style you're ever gonna get).

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I give this thread 9.6

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

but if you wanna keep pretending you ain't a networking careerist fool feel free - we all gotta eat. just don't be a dick about it.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

well, i'm off to go see honey at the dollar theater. i hope that elitist rockcrit cabal that runs wal-mart don't try to brainwash america anymore! keep the faith yall!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry about forgetting, nate, jess and probably Matos. Yeah, this networking I've done has worked wonderfully with the Seattle Weekly.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)

iLm black-and-white vs iLm wolfpac vs iLm hollywood!

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

No, because we're all Stevie Ray.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Stuff I'd like you to elaborate on when you get back from Honey, Blount.

and if any of my friends for some fucking reason turn to me for advice about making x-rays/writing hack criticism instead of giving them creative constructive criticism i'll just keep being a jackass and tell them they and their efforts are worthless

um, what's this in reference to?

miccio if you wanna renounce the bullshit you've pulled in the past or pretend you haven't pulled it

what exactly have I renounced (aside from that 311 thread were I admitted my adolescent appreciation of Soundgarden's authenticity was kinda silly)?

I'm not bothered that James "Mr Show? Odenkerk - classic! Cross - DUD" Blount finds me unfunny, but I'm kinda surprised I'm being called a dick by Trife.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

FRUIT BOOTY!!!!

Stevie Ray (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 00:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I want to see the phrase "eat a poo taco" used at least once more in this thread.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:00 (twenty-one years ago)

eat a poo taco.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Koala tacos are tastier.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, He1geson. Officially the best thread ever.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I saw the episode of Space Ghost with Bob and David recently, and Bob was a lot funnier.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 01:09 (twenty-one years ago)

god that fake best buy DJ is SO ANNOYING

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

actually it doesn't - they always play the white versions of oldies, but it still has james earl jones cracking very odd jokes and big upping the bread on aisle 12. wal-mart radio's actually pretty damn great - all these birthday greetings for wal-mart workers all over from amarillo to kalamazoo (these never fail to depress me), a SHITLOAD of ac/dc. it's sorta a more aor radio disney.

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

god that fake best buy DJ is SO ANNOYING

Yeah, I have to say he's the reason I keep my visits very short and strictly for CDRs.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i know i'm getting old when i walk into best buy and i feel like how my parents must have felt taking me to the arcade as kid

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

My god, that's a brilliant comparison.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

haha - when i go into best buy i get most excited looking at the refrigerators and the dishwashers - i don't even wanna think about what that says about me (pretty sure 'i'm old' is in there though)

cinniblount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

what never ceases to amaze me though is the seniors buying batteries who seem utterly peturbed by this place which is louder and more visually obnoxious than most clubs i've gone to

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

haha blount is getting domestic

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Hands up which published writers never networked not once ever no way. I've never read Miccio's pieces; if they suck, okay, hate that, but criticizing how people got on board in this dirty game...

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

This whole thread is like that Jermaine Jackson song "Word to the Badd!".

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

you know my thread from last year about seeing the video for "let's push things forward" in target didn't generate half as much controversy

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:01 (twenty-one years ago)

"you know, i dont really NEED a throw pillow with spongebob squarepants, a scented lavender candle, a green tracksuit, and a clear orange boombox, but, oh what the hell."

I just bought the top half of the a Target green tracksuit.

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i saw some Thalia vid on a monitor at an EB Games the other day(the one where she dresses in bondage trousers and "performs" at CBGB) where you honestly couldn't tell if she had spent more of the video's budget on her costuming, hair care products, or the recreational pharmaceuticals inhaled on the day of filming.

Kingfish Beatbox Botox Funktion (Kingfish), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The Jimmy Kimmel thing was pretty disappointing. Dizzee looked tired.

Broheems (diamond), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Worst moment came after the performance.

Dizzee: I vanna give peace an t'anks to da USA and de rest of deez world (etc, etc)

Jimmy: I have no idea what you just said.

may pang (maypang), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Awww...Jimmy was making a funny!

Sym (shmuel), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, only he said it behind his back which I thought was kind of, y'know.. rude.

Kingfish Beatbox Botox Funktion (Kingfish), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep. Many a fun evening to be spent watching him on Bravo.

Dude, were you planning on making sense at some point in your jocularity?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 23:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I always thought, like, not understanding the words was a big part of hip-hop's appeal.

just saying, Wednesday, 11 February 2004 23:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you're confusing hip-hop with Scatman John.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 23:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you're a dick.

Marcello Carlantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 11 February 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, you people are just too, too funny! Don't you have about 16 other race threads to work with?

just saying, Thursday, 12 February 2004 00:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Dom, that actually wasn't very funny, in a "wow that's completely unfunny on the subatomic level" way.
