nigga, we don't drop albums, we drop classics!

i've been listening to that uptown souljas and loving bg so much on it. every guest verse on cash money stuff is perfect, he wrote everyone else's verses but always saved the best for himself. he's for sure in my top ten of all time. he has that brusque, forceful delivery that still flows and works with his straight lines and he can do those chanting choruses.

the first way i ever heard it was as a screwed version on a cd-r with a poorly recorded intro over the weirdo ff3 opera start of niggaz in trouble 'four years ago. . . nineteen ninety nine, nigga. . . BG! . . . choppper . . . city . . . in the ghetto. it's got the cute mannie fresh production that everyone loves, start menu plinks, crisp stutter drums, echoey keyboard bloomps. and equally divided between the bg by himself and the big tracks that everyone knows with everyone in the world on them.

Why was your email address texasfinestfemale?

This is a great record. Really picks up after "Bling Bling". "Dog Ass" is fucking classic. "Thug'n" is INSANE. Those last four songs are all great actually. Mannie Fresh definitely did his best beats for BG in those days. "Help" from the Hot Boys album is perfect and its essentially BG solo. Although its perfection definitely has more to do with Mannie Fresh.

man, I have no luck with this cd. Obviously I could just d/l the mp3s (and actually did a long-assed time ago), but because this is a classic and it's somewhat hard to get now (look at the prices good copies fetch on eBay/Amazon), I want a physical copy.

Ordered one for unbelievably cheap off eBay, it "got lost in the mail". Got another today, and it's scratched to hell and skips by track #9 and 10.

Guess I"m gonna have to live with a burned copy.

Neanderthal, Sunday, 29 January 2012 01:53 (thirteen years ago)

i should say, I'm not willing to pay the ridiculous prices for a physical copy. this one was under $7. and this is why.

Rest in peace, my heart goes out to my round L.T.
A slim n**** with two at the bottom, four 'cross the T-O-P
A H.B., a trill n****, a hard up rider
Lay low and be cool, I'll meet your on the other side
I been thinkin' 'bout you day and night
Without you on my all-night flight, it don't go right
But you know one thing, I been keepin' it real
Your lil' one is like mine, ain't gon' miss a meal
I'm still, still shining like you left me, dawg
My Rolex still winding like you left it for
Me and my clique still ball, still stunt for sure
I just got the Mercedes Jeep off the showroom floor
