Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It's hard for me not to think of the Stones, though I'd go with
"Rocks Off" or
"Tumbling Dice" or
"Bitch" or, if I was feeling really good, I'd take it up a notch ~
"Funhouse"

otto, Thursday, 12 February 2004 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Jole, Thursday, 12 February 2004 06:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Yello, "Oh Yeah". In an ideal world, you'd reach the bar just as it reaches the "chicka-chicka" bit.

Hayden Nicholls (Pop the Weasel), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned - there's been at least dozen or so flour n' hats clubs in L.A. in the last decade or so where the possibilities of living your dream were quite high. ;)

Scott Warner (thream), Thursday, 12 February 2004 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I was on some sort of a "date" with a girl that involved first seeing Night of the Hunter in Queens, followed by walking around the Gowanus Canal, then seeing Tindersticks perform with a 14 piece string section in dumbo, ending up with walking into my local bar where the bartender poured my usual and "Friends of Mine" by the Zombies was playing(off a CD-r I had made) on the jukebox, and lo-and-behold friends of mine were sitting both at the bar and in the back and I had to swear it wasn't all planned.

But in an ideal world, I'd like to hear Shake Some Action by the Flamin Groovies when I walked into a bar.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Ride's "Leave them all Behind" or the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony".

grapeshine (grapeshine), Thursday, 12 February 2004 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a very bad habit when entering pubs/bars, which is to not turn my walkman off until I've seen the people I'm meeting, so my entrance is pretty much always to whatever's playing on that (for me).

I like walking into places and hearing "Crazy In Love" though, it always puts a spring in my step.

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 12 February 2004 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

one glorious evening, i made my entrance into a party as "gold dust woman" started up. it was summer, so my hair (very long at the time) got blown back by the fans going around the room as i strode in. the timing and wind effects were so perfect that a friend drunkenly accused me of staging it.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 12 February 2004 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Err, I walked into a bar that was blasting a Van Der Graaf Generator tune a year ago or so. I don't remember what song anymore though; something from Still Life.

Made me happy!

Of course, it was a prog rock concert; I suppose it would've been more shocking if it was just some random bar.

Øystein H-O (Øystein H-O), Thursday, 12 February 2004 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 12 February 2004 17:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I've had great experiences in New Orleans walking into bars when Rebirth Brass Band's 'Feel Like Funkin' It Up pt. II' or Deneice Williams 'Cause I Love You' was playing. Best jukeboxes ever in that town.

Two Judas Priest songs! It's the music to make an entrance to.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 13 February 2004 07:36 (twenty-two years ago)

(well, "The Helion" is an instrumental intro to "Electric Eye" so it sorta seems like one song).

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 13 February 2004 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It's definitely reading the Steely Dan thread that's making me think this, but at the moment, "Monkey in Your Soul" seems like it would be the most glorious walking-into-a-bar song imaginable.

Marcel Post (Marcel Post), Friday, 13 February 2004 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I once walked into a local bar exactly on the opening note of Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly"!!! I felt like they were finally making the movie of my life. I know - I'm a DORK but it was very cool.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 21 February 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I used to have this nasty habit of showing up to my local bar just as "Bela Lugosi's Dead" was hitting the major "I'm dead, I'm dead" parts.

Clay Smith (cws), Saturday, 21 February 2004 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)
