I think Ryan Adams is the fucking go-to guy for aging middle-of-the-road critics. Rock N Roll is almost unlistenable, but I read so many glowing reviews. Whatever cachet he derived from Whiskeytown and Heartbreaker has coaxed him through three shitty albums and two godawful EPs.

I kept reading that Rock N Roll was his big pop sell-out move. If anything was going to make my want to listen to Ryan Adams that would have been it but then he made the mistake of releasing a single and I heard it. :(
