maximalist 303s outside of acid house

303s and ilk have been used outside of acid, but in, how can i say, understated fashion, not fully utilized. the maximalism of hardfloor/plank/important or early synewave, not at all (and not even used in dance music itself now, unless you count that liberator stuff, but thats kind of a backstreet microgenre locked away, and with good reason)

it strikes me, that that kind of early bondzio fighting 303s would fit well into the current postpunk/electro thing, when it decides to move chronologically forward (all the prostetations of 'acid house' everywhere, but i dont really here that big acid sound anywhere

Try again by Aaliyah? I seem to remember those were rather restrained 303s, at least in comparison to say Lost in the Silver Box by Hardfloor!

That is exactly what i mean, the 303 as centre-stage, lost in the silver box is exactly the type of record i mean, or afghan acid, that total maximalism, im surprised it isnt really being utilized alongside other sounds, even as a sort of equivalent of a guitar solo or something

good luck finding it.. but Mongoose - Choke On It is pure 303 evilness. it's a nasty nasty track. lo-fi drums roughly approximating "dance" beats, but stylistically it has more in common with Negativland than Josh Wink.

on "Bentism" compilation on the Creeping Bent label.

everyone needs to hear it.

So what we're really hoping for, is for, say, the DFA or the Neptunes or Timbaland to drop a crazy 303 track...
