steven schenk (skenker), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:14 (twenty-two years ago)

it's new

My Huckleberry Friend (Horace Mann), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

it's by the Beastie Boys

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

it'll never be finished.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

They say it's pretty much done, supposedly out in May.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It'll feature guest appearnces from some popular rappers, and some slightly less popular ones.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:20 (twenty-two years ago)

If it's good, it'll be a miracle.

Richardstone, Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

It'll probably have scratching.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Mike D is reportedly on it.

scott m (mcd), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

And old-school flow with unison end rhymes is also expected, either with all three of them on the same beat or two of them repeating the rhyme on the next eighth note.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

They've had six years to work on it, Mark. Look what that amount of time did for Boston's Third Stage...uh, or don't.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It's called, in an ironic jab at their Tibet love, "Chinese Democracy"

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Rumours are that one or two of the tracks may make humourous light of recent American political events, with the Beasties' own unique way of looking at events.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

If it's good, it'll be a miracle.

With the possible exception of that ill-advised hardcore e.p. they put out (not Polywog Stew, but the one prior to Hello Nasty. I believe it was called Allio Y Ollio or something), pretty much everything they've put out has been pretty entertaining. I can't imagine it being bad, per se.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

the cadences will be thrillingly new and unique. shit you've NEVER heard before... and the delivery.. OMG

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

You did hear their protest song they put out about a year or so ago, right?

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

There will be lyrics that reference themselves either by individual name or by group, and perhaps a funky 2 minute instrumental somewhere in the mix.

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Does Mike D still look ... you know ... scarier than CB's toilets?

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i heard biz markie might even show up.

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Mike D may have aged in a sincerely peculiar way, but he remains the coolest member of the band.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Word on the street is that one of the tracks will contain some stuff from old Run DMC songs, with a tribute to Jam Master Jay at the start.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

FUCK WOT ALEX SAYS AD THE FUCK ROCK!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Mike D is definitely the most instrumentally talented.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

it's gonna suck...natch.

ddb, Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Almost read that otherwise.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

kicking the truth to the young white youth.

ddb, Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Ad rock is the coolest and the best musician. They had to hire someone to play blastbeats for Mike D!

Mitchell (Mitchell), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

They're white.

Jeff Chang, Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The Beastie Boys are so damn fun that they ridiculously overcome their limited rapping abilities. It's called charisma.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Thursday, 12 February 2004 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It'll be released.
It won't be released.

p.j. (Henry), Friday, 13 February 2004 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The all-star Beastie Naptime Spectack-iler

Ad Rock: "dat's some freaky-sleepy, y'all."

p.j. (Henry), Friday, 13 February 2004 19:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Producers?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 13 February 2004 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

oh my god, the Beastie Boys should not have jowls

nate detritus (natedetritus), Friday, 13 February 2004 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the Neptunes are producing it.

ameriganza, Saturday, 14 February 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

these guys haven't fucked up yet. I understand the doubt, but EVERY album has had classics on it and I'm happy to hear more. I didn't get to actually hear the "World Gone Mad" track but I read the lyrics and they brought in a Zoolander reference. So do it to it, boys.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 14 February 2004 20:31 (twenty-two years ago)

And yeah, Mike D is one reason I ain't going in a yoga stylee anytime soon.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 14 February 2004 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I am in love with MCA's second chin.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 14 February 2004 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

omg, Saturday, 14 February 2004 20:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh man. That picture is heartbreaking.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)
