The Laibach cover was pretty hilarious.

Cheers!

No, no, no...you need to post a picture that shows the lead singer's big billowy PANTS. It's crucial, trust me.

Ohhhh! I must be dumb, because I can't figure out how to post this picture!

I love both Opus's original and the Laibach version, by the way. The video for Laibach one is probably the best music video in human history. And the Opus one is on a pretty good Opus album -- I have the album and 12-inch both. Also, Opus is the name of a PENGUIN!

Use this as a template:

put the full web address between these quotes

Put the full web adress -- including http:// -- between the quotes, as indicated. Then remove the space after the < and the space before the > and hit submit.

La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
Live, la la la la la
Live is life
La la la la la
Let us all talk about life
La la la la la
Live
La la la la la

When we all get the power
We all give the best
Every minute of an hour
Dont think about the rest
And you all get the power
You all get the best
And everone gives everything
And every song..everybody sings

Repeat chorus

And we all feel the power
Live is life
Cmon stand up and dance
Live is life
Grab the feeling of the people
LIve is life
Its the feeling of the best

Also, Opus is the name of a PENGUIN!

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title. Spencer very correct about the Laibach cover, the video for which has to be seen to be believed.

I think Laibach's "Gerbert Einer Nation" video is a great first Laibach video, however their "Life is Life" video is... wow, the word majestic doesn't even approach it

So does the first word of the title rhyme with "jive" or with "give"?

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Saturday, 14 February 2004 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck that, I loved Opus' version before I ever heard Laibach's version

Dadaismus (Dada), Saturday, 14 February 2004 05:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I never heard the full version. :( Back in the late 80s on Casey Kasem's American Top 40 TV show, they showed a quick video clip of it, as it had reach #1 on some European chart. It sounded kinda hootenannyish, but in a nice proto-Kelly Family way.

jive

Big stomping pop song, what's to defend? When it came out I was 12 - everyone at school laughed at it for being stupid and loved it anyway.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 14 February 2004 11:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I've not heard it much since then though so I might not still like it.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Saturday, 14 February 2004 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

You will, you will, it's the most Austrian pop song since the Strauss family were struttin' their stuff

Dadaismus (Dada), Saturday, 14 February 2004 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

If it did not exist, the LAIBACH version would not exist. therefore it is a good thing that it exists.

DV (dirtyvicar), Saturday, 14 February 2004 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

i liked it at the time. what's the Laibach version? there was a pop-trance version of course...

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 14 February 2004 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It makes me really happy that the Laibach version seems more well known than the original. :)

robin carmody (robin carmody), Sunday, 15 February 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

(thanks, jamiefake. I have never heard this song.)

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Sunday, 15 February 2004 06:43 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
is there a studio version of this? All I can find are live ones.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Sunday, 6 November 2005 02:10 (twenty years ago)

two years pass...

Yeah, does anyone know about a studio version? Wikipedia is not clear on this. On the Opus entry it states:

In 1985 they released "Live Is Life" which topped the charts in many countries, and a live recording of the song even made the Top 40 in the USA in 1985.

...suggesting there is a studio version.

But then the "Live is Life" entry states:

The song was created during a concert in Oberwart, on September 2, 1984, while the group celebrated its eleven years of existence. Recorded in a live version, the audience also sings the verses.

???
