Bad Live Album Titles

All live albums should be called "Live At _____________", right?
There are so many offenders.

"Liver than you'll ever be" The Rolling Stones
"Live Baby Live" INXS

Think of some more for me.

Live Like a Suicide wasn't a live album, was it?

jody (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I mentioned the Moody Blues on the pretentious bands thread; they had one called 'Caught Live + 5', which is quite lame. (It's half life half studio).

pete s, Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

there's no way that was supposed to be so big. my apologies.

Favorite live album title ever: DRUNK ON THE POPE'S BLOOD by the Birthday Party

Queen Live Killers by Queen always struck me as a misleading title. I mean, sure, they had a track called "Killer Queen," but LIVE KILLERS isn't really indicative of the type of band they were. I mean, they're bike-riding fops, not knife-wielding evil-doers.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:24 (twenty-two years ago)

haha!

pete s, Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ministry's In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up was such a bad title, it made me not want to buy it. Smug fuckers.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I really hate to post this, but since you asked...

Really sorry.

Ryan Pitchfork, Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ew.

Anyway Iron Maiden have some crackers.
'Live After Death'
'A Real Live One'
'A Real Dead One'.

pete s, Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Have they made it to "Real Live Death" yet?

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Maiden, I mean.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Good:

"Got Live If You Want It" -- AC/DC
"Stiffs Live" -- various
"Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape" -- Bauhaus
"Before Driving to the Chapel We Took Coffee with Rick and Jennifer Reed" -- AMM

Bad:
"In Real Time" -- Fairport Convention (beyond the cheesy title, it was a live-in-the studio affair with overdubbed applause, at the behest of/for contractual obligation with Island Records)
"Love You Live" -- Rolling Stones
"9012Live -- The Solos" -- Yes (dumb title, and execrable live record -- as the title intimates, this record collects the exended-wank solos from the "90125" tour [yes, EVERYBODY in the band got one] -- thou shalt find no redeeming song structures herein).

Nom De Plume (Nom De Plume), Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Honorable mention for Van Morrison's 'It's Too Late To Stop Now', which is as flatulent a title as i imagine Van's music to be (prob. very ill-informed i know).

pete s, Saturday, 14 February 2004 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I do like Fairport Convention's 'House Full', which came right after their studio album 'Full House'.

pete s, Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Live Rust

jim wentworth (wench), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

"House Full" is a bloody fantastic live record, as well....although it wasn't called "House Full" until the '80's issue which replaced "Live at the LA Troubadour".

There was, additionally, a '70's Fairport live bootleg with a great title for a live record: "A Moveable Feast"

Nom De Plume (Nom De Plume), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Intensities in Ten Cities, Ted Asshole

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

New Jersey wasn't live? Was some of it done live? "Lay Your Hands on Me" and "Bad Medicine" at least?
At the time, I remember a lot of talk about it being a live album. Or maybe it was just the videos.
Rush for sure -- every fifth album was/is live.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 14 February 2004 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

'although it wasn't called "House Full" until the '80's issue which replaced "Live at the LA Troubadour".;

Ah, OK. That's a shame, i could've just imagined someone getting an inspired brainwave about that title back in 1970.....anyway it is great, the recent reissue was superb with loads of delicious added stuff.

And you're really going to be angry when you realize where they were all recorded...
