Anybody heard it? Thoughts on KMD? It has a classic early 90s feel to it, but with rhymes that are way beyond your average early 90s hip hop act. I don't own Black Bastards, so I can't really compare...
I don't know if this has been covered, because I think "kmd" is too short for a search...

Why don't just re-release the goddamn "Mr. Hood" already??

yeah, there is no track listing inside the cd either, and when you put it in your computer, it lists all the tracks as untitled. Irritating.

Garbage Day - 11. What A Nigga Know? Listen 12. Sweet Premium Wine Listen 13. Smokin That Shit Listen 14. Contact Blitz Listen 15. Black Bastards Listen 16. Sounded Like A Roc - 17. Plumskinz - 18. ????
This HAS to be a self-bootleg of sorts.. but it's the most mind-bogglingly stupid self-bootleg. Why not just release a self-bootleg of "Mr. Hood" then, since "Black Bastards" is still in print? This makes no sense at all.
Oops: that would be the best advice if "Mr. Hood" was still in print.

"Mr. Hood" has been re-released on vinyl as a bootleg, but it's a poor sounding bootleg with very low output. (I have it anyway). Possibly, you saw that, or a similar CD boot.

"Coming soon...the 3rd nstamllment in the KMD saga: MENTAL ILLNESS"
they left off the i, not me.
Well, I don't have these other albums, but this CD is GREAT.

i absolutely adore Mr Hood. I owned it on tape in highschool and nearly jumped for joy when last year finally found a used copy on cd. I don't really love Black Bastards, thinking it's a little too fast or something? My wife, hearing neither until recently loves Black Bastard way more.

Black Bastards sounds crappy because the masters were stolen or lost I believe...they had to take the music from these old tapes to release the album. "Sweet Premium Wine," "What a Nigga Know (Remix)" feat. MF Grimm, the original mix, etc...great album.

Mr. Hood has been issued on CD before (just three years ago I think) - you can find it online.
I like the murky sound on Black Bastards - I think it was deliberate, and it's not the only Zev Luv/MF Doom-related project that sounds like shit (King Geedorah's not as extreme, but it's sort of lo fi).

is this up for the obvious awards?
i was comparing the jaylib w/the madvillian albums and saying how i'm bummed that only madlib is making the beats on the latter.

I lulled our Mr Hood this week and am reminded of its Classic status. The conversation with Bert at the end of “Who Me?” - so great.
