ALL AMERICAN REJECTS-SWING SWING, CLOSET SINGLE OF 03. NO MORE AGREEMENT WILL HAPPEN IN FUTURE.

I think I'm going to cry ...

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Sunday, 15 February 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

who actually thinks it's good? I can't really fault it.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 15 February 2004 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I often disagree with Miccio, but I'll say this: Kelly Osbourne's "Come Dig Me Out" was my favorite single of 2003. SO THERE.

haha and I owned both songs before they became singles! I still get giddy when I remember I voted for the Rejects album on Pazz & Jop back when it was still just on Doghouse (though it probably wouldn't make my top 10 from 2002 now). go rock me. I appreciate yer candor, both of ya.

And Ronan, I did a ILM search so I could return the favor, and while I haven’t heard 97 percent of what came up on the 100 random threads, we both feel the same way about the Darkness. And I’m sure I’d like at least half the other stuff.

And Jody, if I knew you’d bequeath me your record collection in your will, you’d be dead dead dead. It totally made my day when you had that link to the video for “Come Dig Me Out” on your blog. I didn’t know she’d made a video for it, and I was damn glad somebody else liked it.

plus we both think Electr-O-Pura is one of the best things about 1995, if I'm not mistaken.

this is true!

I blame Electr-O-Pura for my inability to play a proper un-Quiney guitar solo. Noise was rendered irresistable.

I would sing the Beastie Boys' "Netty's Girl" for Kelly in a second. I'm the one, the mutherfukkin' ONE!!!

I liked Swing Swing quite a bit... didn't Swygart say vaguely nice things about it when it made #13?

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 16 February 2004 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know t.A.T.u had stuff written on their t-shirts and stuff. and look, they grew their hair out!

Captain Sleep (Captain Sleep), Monday, 16 February 2004 06:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, did I? Don't remember doing so - I liked the organ in the intro, but other than that I found the singer's voice massively grating. Particularly on the second 'SWING!'

It was a pretty duff chart that week, though, I think, so I might have been quite complimentary.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 16 February 2004 08:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Well someone else liked it. The single after it, "The Last Song" was very, very rubbish.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 16 February 2004 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

this is a gorgeous song. i love that part at the end of the video, where the girl tosses the t-shirt back to him and walks away. deeply moving. it reminds me of the pop group ash - but all-american rejects are actually still young, so their teen heartbreak schtick goes down a lot better with me. definitely one of my favourite singles of last year.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Monday, 16 February 2004 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It is an ace song, I was totally ambushed by it on at least 3 occasions last year while driving. I only remembered it to download yesterday on a kind of whim, glad I did though.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 16 February 2004 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

what is this thread about?

jed_ (jed), Monday, 16 February 2004 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

pinefox...is that you?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 16 February 2004 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I remember seeing the AAR playing "Swing Swing" on CD:UK sometime last year, and my enjoyment was tapered somewhat by the fact that the singer had his legs uneccessarily far apart and whilst playing his guitar was doing what can only be described as "strutting". It was not a good look.

Quite a nice song mind, but I think I would really start to hate them if they continued to have hits. Not sure why, but such is the fickle nature of pop.
