Because lots of people keep telling me I should check this label out...

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 16 February 2004 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

search - Timtim - "Let's Pretend We're Going" (CD) particulary the first couple of tracks on it, a folk-electronic record..

Ellen Allien - "Berlinette" (CD) - especially - wish..

Modeselektor - "Death Medley" (12") a mashed breakcore 12 inch..

destroy - Apparat - dull electronica that sounds like a lot of other electronica. .

Ellen Allien Weiss.Mix is soooo great.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 16 February 2004 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Covenant-Bullet-Ellen Allien Remix is the best thing I've heard.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 16 February 2004 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

SEARCH: sascha funke - "when will i be famous?"

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Monday, 16 February 2004 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

scissors (Honda), Monday, 16 February 2004 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

strongo is otm. Sascha Funke is grebt. "Tracky" but grebt.

also toktok vs soffy o - "missy queen's gonna die" and the toktok albums, like "run.stop.restore"

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 16 February 2004 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

tracky = good!

smash tv - nobody (12), the barbara morgenstern remix is worth the price of admission alone.
weiss.mix (mix cd) - what matos said
flieg mit ellen allien (mix cd) - this is just as good
the two ellen allien albums and their associated singles are very good, but i like her mixes better...
sascha funke - bravo (lp) - not as tracky as "when will i...", very atmospheric.
kiki - luv sikk (12) - death disco
paul kalkbrenner - zeit (lp) - immaculate sweeping techno, almost doesn't fit on this label

there is an ellen allien remix comp that just came out that would be well worth picking up.

tricky disco (disco stu), Monday, 16 February 2004 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Weiss.mix thirded.

The Gemeinsam 2002 comp is also good (but Sascha Funke does nothing for me, sorry. I had a listen to his LP too, but... meh)

Jeff W (zebedee), Monday, 16 February 2004 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

i think the hard candy spank of it would get too much for a whole album, i agree

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 16 February 2004 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Search: Feadz - On Level EP

Philippe (Philippe), Monday, 16 February 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Thoughts on _Stadtkind_? i was non-plussed in comp. to berlinette and matos.mix

Nick Sylvester, Monday, 16 February 2004 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)

well "stadtkind" was one of the first efforts to mix up straight, tracky electro with minimal/glitch elements. same with smash tv and the other bpitch stuff from the time. not so long after that they veered hard in an IDM/synthpop direction.

personally i think bpitch peaked with "data romance", but if you like the new style better it may not be worth your time to go digging any farther into the back catalogue.

vahid (vahid), Monday, 16 February 2004 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i like everything i have heard from paul kalkbrenner, especially the "chrono" EP.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 16 February 2004 23:21 (twenty-two years ago)

AHEM

search function bitch (donut), Monday, 16 February 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, so all their best stuff was 2002, huh? Explains why singaporeans are so into it...

That Sascha Funke tune is fun. Heard it before but never knew who it was. Also didn't realise Tok Tok were on this label.

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i said the same thing last time. i really need a vinyl store in my city!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Love all of these:

Berlin 2001 Compilation, especially White Dolemite-Nice Acid, Mitte Kareoke-TickTakTakTik, Smash TV-Body Rock

White Dolemite (Nomad & N-Dee) EP

Timbuktu EP

+ the Sascha Funke-When Will I Be Famous and Paul Kalkbrenner Chronos EP

mayor motorcade (mayor motorcade), Tuesday, 17 February 2004 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

That Berlin 2001 comp is great, but don't forget the ace MIA track.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Wednesday, 18 February 2004 03:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Berlinette is so cool it just gets better every time I listen to it.
At first it struck me as a little pretentious, but I think a pitchfork review colored my vision.

The first track has some serious booty shaking action to it too.

hector (hector), Wednesday, 18 February 2004 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah nitsuh's berlinette review is by far the best piece i've seen on allien anywhere

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 18 February 2004 04:40 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
What is up with Timtim being so cool? I just dug out Gemeinsam and remembered his track and starting pulling his stuff from the website and ... lovely.

Any opinions on the new Smash TV?

nabiscothingy, Friday, 28 May 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

New Smash TV - The production is immaculate, but the songs are pretty uneven in the end. Sounds great while it's playing though.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:02 (twenty-one years ago)

the new smash tv is extremely busy. they seem to get more exposure in the techno scene (see their prominent appearence on globus 6) than the microhouse scene, so i wonder maybe if they're taking their cues from these people. parts of the new album approach subhead-like levels of density.

the lead-off track, "queen of man", is KILLER.

vahid (vahid), Friday, 28 May 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

four years pass...

tons of bpitch eps under $0.20/track
