I say DPT, just for "100,000 Fireflies".

The funny thing is those trees turn out to be fake once you get up close. But by then you can't see the forest for 'em.

and that's when the wayward bus hits you. but back to the record...

wayward bus is a stronger record, DPT is more diverse.

dont these come together on one cd? just pretend it's one album, ok?

"100,000 Fireflies" is indeed a great song but TWB has "When You Were My Baby", "The Saddest Story Ever Told", "Candy", and "Summer Lies" so it wins.

Which one has "Suddenly There Is A Tidal Wave"? I love that song, and he just doesn't write like that anymore.

That's on TWB.

distant plastic trees cause a lot of wayward bus is pretty same-y. and he actually experimented with some sounds on dpt to great effect and susan anways sounds best when she's playing stephin's part on the first one,it's my fave magnetic fields record.

as much as i adore 100,000 fireflies, i think its the only song on DPT that i really like. so i guess wayward bus.

Don't forget that Distant Plastic Trees originally ended with "Plant White Roses" (which can be found on the Harriet comp The Long Secret), but I guess Stephin wanted the 10 songs/10 songs symmetry on the reissued CD? Or he wanted to keep it all synthy, since "Plant White Roses" is mostly on acoustic guitar? Or maybe he wanted to end with "100,000 Fireflies"? All/none of the above?

"Falling Babies" is on DPT.

Distant Plastic Trees gets much more play in this house, despite having to flip through TWB on the twofer. Quite perfect.

I really need to know which of Ernest's reasons is the right one now though. :)

'Railroad Boy' and 'You Love to Fail' are also very strong songs off of DPT. I'm inclined to go with TWB, though, for it's superb consistency.

why didnt they release TWB on vinyl (or both of them nowadays) their the best MF records. i prefer TWB though since i got the 100000 fireflies on single
