this is not irony, just very boring and silly

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

(also applies to The Darkness...but that's not irony either)

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

As long as we can have another about Dizzee Doubters while you're at it.

ENRQ (Enrique), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha you shd have been here when the strokes hit!!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

They suck, thus YOU SUCK for liking them.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

OI YOU.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

heh heh heh

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

The Darkness are fun, Killing Joke are not, I WIN.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah but killing joke rock (I know this b/c I saw them, and they rocked) and the darkness do not rock.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you saying rocking is more important than fun? Get thee to Rolling Stone, heretic!

nate detritus (natedetritus), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:18 (twenty-two years ago)

"rock" =/= "fun"
a band that "rocks" usually = "fun"
(+++ the singer beating up a skinhead mid-set = "k-phun!@#")

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

+++++ "rolling stone" = "1000000 x un-fun"

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever. All I know is if ILM's Brit contingent and Alex in NYC hate it there's a 90% chance it really has something going for it.

nate detritus (natedetritus), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

the Brit contingent is divided pretty evenly if not actually leaning in Darkness favour tho - i got nothing much against them

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

The Darkness are fun, Killing Joke are not, I WIN.

Surely "fun" is a relative term. I consider Killing Joke to be an unhealthy amount of fun, whereas I find the Darkness to be rote, depressing and stupid.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you also find Jay-Z and Nirvana rote, depressing and stupid so you're going to have to try extra-super-hard to convince me of anything

nate detritus (natedetritus), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but Jay-Z and Nirvana ARE rote and depressing (or in Nirvana's case, WERE) rote and depressing....I wouldn't necessarily call Jay-Z nor Nirvana "stupid", however).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

The Darkness, meanwhile, are just Nyuck Nyuck Nyuck rock of the lamest order.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

so you've said. a few times now.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but Jay-Z and Nirvana ARE rote and depressing (or in Nirvana's case, WERE) rote and depressing

all-caps won't make it true

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm merely being emphatic.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Moderator delete skull please. (I need it replaced with titanium.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 19 February 2004 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I think we're talking about the wrong kind of Darkness...
