Dunno, just realised that two of the greatest figures in 20th century composition were either killed or maimed by Allied troops - possibly under the direct order of some military forerunner of Geir Hongro.

Still, smoking a cigar, he had it coming to him, didn't he?

Er... Geir??

Well, you know what a mean, some special unit specifically formed to keep the forces of musical modernism at bay by systematically wiping out composers whose tunes you can't whistle.

Kurt Schwitters - held in a detention camp on the Isle of Man for 18 months after fleeing the Nazis.

Clarification re: Webern. He wasn't shot for smoking per se (nor for writing atonal music); but he stepped out onto his porch to smoke and was shot for being out after curfew. Awful tragedy.

Alban Berg died from complications due to an infected insect bite. Can't blame that one on the Allied troops, but it's odd that Schoenberg's two most famous students died early/accidentally.

Let's leave Geir out of this, considering how tolerant he is of divergent opinions (however inflexible his own may be).
