Use your imagination to come up with a tragicomic scenario in which somehow you're at the helm for the next 30 minutes. Here's what I feel like playing...

"Only Shallow" -- My Bloody Valentine
"The Cutter" -- Echo and the Bunnymen
"So. Central Rain" -- R.E.M.
"The Caterpillar" -- The Cure
"Stand and Deliver" -- Adam and the Ants
"The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" -- The Smiths
"Mandinka" -- Sinead O'Connor
"Counting Backwards" -- Throwing Muses
"Bull in the Heather" -- Sonic Youth

I think that's 29:19. I guess my sub-thread is at what point would you flip the channel during my, or another poster's, reign.

I can't think of ones for a whol 1/2 hour but I'd really like to play "Radio Free Euroupe" and "New Years Day".

I'll think of more later.

"Bull in the Heather" is from the 90's, though....thus, they probably wouldn't play it (yet).

I love lists.

Joy Division -- Love Will Tear Us Apart
Cabaret Voltaire -- Sensoria
Ministry -- Just One Fix
Duran Duran -- Union of the Snake
Happy Mondays -- Lazyitis
Buggles -- Video Killed the Radio Star
David Bowie -- DJ
Pat Benetar -- Love is a Battlefield
Depeche Mode -- I Feel You

A lot of the 80's alternative bands had shit videos (shoestring budgets, not giving a fuck, whatever), so I tried to mix it up with videos that actually entertain me.

Nothin' but Oran "Juice" Jones, baby.

(x-post)

You're right, that particular SY video is too recent. I can't remember ever seeing a video for anything off of 'Sister,' but if one exists I'll play that instead.

"Bohemian Rhapsody"
"Underpresser"
Some kind of Talking Heads song

You don't mess with the Juice!
I gave you silk suits, blue diamonds and gucci handbags.
I gave you things you couldn't even pronounce!
But now I can't give you nothing but advice.
Cause you're still young, yeah, you're young.
And you're gonna find somebody like me one of these days . . .
Until then, you know what you gotta do?
You gotta get on outta here with that alley-cat-coat-wearing,
punch-bucket-shoe-wearing crumbcake I saw you with. Cause you
dismissed!
That's right, Silly rabbit, tricks are made for kids, don't you know
that. You without me is like corn flakes without the milk! This is my
world. You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut! Now get on outta
here. Scat!
Don't touch that coat...

"A New Day" by Killing Joke
"Sleepless" by King Crimson (which they played this morning, actually)
"Up Around the Bend" by Hanoi Rocks
"Black Planet" by the Sisters of Mercy
"Another Kind of Love" by Hugh Cornwell
and finish off with...
"Open Your Eyes" by the Lords of the New Church.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"A New Day"

What happens in that video? I've never seen one Killing Joke video in my life. Why that one Alex?

Aja (aja), Thursday, 19 February 2004 22:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Robert Palmer - Addicted To Love
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want to Have Fun
Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian
ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man
Phil Collins - Oh I'm really sorry but we've run out of time...
