It is one of my favourite bands and I am eagerly waiting for a new release. It's been 4 long years since "High Ball Me".

seconded... nobody writes better songs than moose, they are criminally underappreciated.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Friday, 20 February 2004 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

They're a good 'un and always have been. It would be nice to get a new album from them yes...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe you should ask Squirrel.

I'm sorry.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 20 February 2004 01:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I still love you.

I think they've been on hiatus since that High Ball Me EP.

the last ep is called "baby, it's over" which i guess could be a fitting finale. we listened to it at midnight new year's 2000.

A few months back a band named Moose appeared to be playing at TJs in Newport, causing a major flurry of activity in my household. Upon reaching TJs it turned out the gig was cancelled. The next day I did a bit of research and found an email address for Russell Yates and mailed him saying "Was that you playing in Newport yesterday?". He replied that Moose have been inactive for a few years with no plans to do anything, but he did thank me for my kind words and thoughts. Turned out the band due to play in Newport were called Noose, I think.

Can I put my hand up and join the small band of moose admirers? Unfortunately I think they're very much extinct now and anyway 'High Ball Me' was a bit rubbish, wasn't it? Remember them for 'XYZ' and 'Honey Bee'.

laticsmon (laticsmon), Friday, 20 February 2004 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

high ball me is fantastic! i like it more than live a little, love a lot, although i like every one of them.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Friday, 20 February 2004 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Rob.

daavid (daavid), Friday, 20 February 2004 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

there is still polar aim, though their singer is a mess. without russel moose what is the point? I like 'high ball me' even if it didn't live up to expectations. has the girl who did the collage covers ever done covers for any other bands?

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 21 February 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i wonder if they would record another album if i backed a dumptruck full of money onto their front lawns.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Saturday, 21 February 2004 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

what's with the hatin' on 2(LaL)? brilliant album.

Russell is managing Sub Pop soft-folkie Rosie Thomas these days.
if a full-on Moose reunion isn't in the cards, i hope he at least has intentions of a solo career. wotta songwriter.

OK I'm just reviving this thread out of desperation to see if anything comes up. Someody mentioned (in a Slowdive thread) a rumour of a new album, but I haven't found anything about it anywhere else.

daavid (daavid), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

according to the le grand magistery site a few months back they were spending time in a studio sometime. no specifics were given.

keith m (keithmcl), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

thirteen years pass...

I already posted this on the Lush thread but, musically, is as close to Moose (if not closer) as it is to Lush. Also, a good excuse to revive thread:
