beats from some guy named 6 july and the single from premier. a few songs about the state of hip-hop. hard to concentrate on what he's saying for very long and it's jarring when he says motherfucker or starts talking mean.
people are already calling it a classic.

i like 'hip-hop,' it sounds a little bit like the gangstarr song with jadakiss.

classic....he's less 'all over the place' rhyme wise with his goofy similes/metaphors...even his voice sounds diff than it does now (though I did love Street Hop, liked the newie)

New one is good then? I was gonna check it.
― Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Wednesday, 9 November 2011 06:43 (fourteen years ago)
So, I think it's *good*, but it's just kinda 'there' really. I mean the production is really vanilla for the most part, and his lyrics and flow are kind of what they've been the past few years (wild metaphors, lines like "I'll still cut my children's peanut and butter jelly sandwiches with a machete")...but far fewer memorable songs than on past albums. A pretty big dropoff from Street Hop imo, but still a listenable one.

i mean this w/ 0% irony: riff raff sodmg > anyone in slaughterhouse
I'd say their rep is worse than their output. Its a little self serious at times, but I enjoy some of it.

Getting Kells/Macklemore storytelling vibes from new single:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4STstdvnMfU
from p4k:
On “Tabernacle,” he tells the heartbreaking story of losing his grandmother and meeting his newborn son within hours at the same hospital. But he is incapable of building suspense or changing his tone, and what should be an epic tale is reduced to the songwriting equivalent of turn-by-turn navigation—taking readable steps toward a predetermined destination. He’s prone to rapping in bulk, and thus wants to narrate every detail of a story in a linear timetable, telegraphing outcomes; sometimes it’s like a nonfiction book on tape.
