talib kweli said in 2021 that kanye had blamed rubin for convincing him to support trump & connect with owens, but kweli said he thought it was weird for kanye to shift responsibility like that. while kanye is not exactly a reliable source on the topic of himself, owens' account doesn't actually contradict that - rubin could easily have been the reason kanye was interested in owens in the first place.
