it's a song that's one of those poppy goth songs + it's lyrics are sung in the typical 'goth' voice with the chorus being sung by a (what sounds like) indie singer who stumbled onto the session.the only lyrics i can make out are:"and it turns my day from bright to grey, something, something,(indie chorus.)"

Is the singer male or female?

both singers are male.the guy who sings the verses has a 'tortured' lower goth voice,+the indie chorus guy has a higher pitched voice.also it's hard to make out what the indie guy is singing.

I would describe Peter Murphy's music as goth/indie/pop and he has a low voice, but I don't recognize the lyrics you mention in any of his songs.

"Fade to Grey" by Visage (not that they were goths, mind you)

the singer's style is in a similar vein to murphy's but i'm not sure if it's him.another lyric is:"it's not that i often feel the need to cry,but it's (something, something)a dark lullaby."
