Tim,

Got the Chuck and Mary Perrin cd in the post today. Ask Joe for a copy. You get namechecked all nice and shiny as project assistance. Nice reissue but not the same album that you sent me?? Wonder why?

WTF quota - ANDY WALLACE OF NIRVANA FAME PLAYED BASS IN THE PERRIN'S BAND?

(it was weird holding a product where there was once an email from Tim Hopkins saying - would it not be weird if Joe reissued this cd?)

jimmy the daft saint, Friday, 20 February 2004 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

the music inside is nice and valium-lite. definitely in art garfunkle's bright eyes territory. weird that karen carpenter used to send them fan letters!!

jimmy the daft saint, Friday, 20 February 2004 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been mentioned twice on Jennifer Gentle liner notes, that was cool!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I got thanked in the liners for James Brown, Dead on the Heavy Funk 1975-83. maybe the greatest moment of my life to date (not counting that one-night stand in '99, I mean)

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Where did you get thanked for that, then?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

you had a one-night stand with james brown?!

geeta (geeta), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Geeta and I think along the same lines.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i got thanked on three album covers. but then i paid for them.

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

(to be released that is)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Radiohead thanks me quite often... (my real name that is)

*sits*

*waits*

*still waiting for my card*

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I got thanked on a Peter Jefferies record and ... something else I swear, but I can't remember. Maybe a Renderers record? Alastair Galbraith? I'd have to check.

Broheems (diamond), Friday, 20 February 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

haha you sillies! the one-night stand was with Bobby Byrd

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:03 (twenty-two years ago)

if this is a rollcall, then I'll mention Rodan's Rusty and Shellac's Friends! record.

hstencil, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

hstencil I was just thinking of you. They just had a thing about Jack Smith on NPR! Talking about ownership of his art.

Broheems (diamond), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

er, really? Too weird.

hstencil, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I bought a CD yesterday in which the first person thanked in the notes is Douglas Wolk. (And the reason I bought it was I remembered the band had a great single on one of the CMJ Monthly mixes several years back; and DW gave it an enthusiastic write-up in that issue.)

morris pavilion (samjeff), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i got thanked on quite a few psy trance albums including
Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger
Schpongle - Are you Schpongled?
Dragonfly - Experiments that identify change, although that was with the 3 person collective that i djed with
Cosmosis - Cosmology
and a compilation of Australian Trance that came out on Transient records that i cant remember the name of

it was a very tight scene

hector (hector), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

oh and I was thanked on the Mt. Florida record, too.

hstencil, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Who has written liner-notes? I'm curious.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I'll be working on that soon for someone, oddly enough...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

is God an ILXOR?

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i got thanked on slaughter joe and biff bang pow records. but i thanks my real name and wrote the liner notes in my writing name. does that count? ha ha. no. probably not.

nb: db - joke was funny like four years ago.

nb: i've written several liner notes. ha ha. i like doing them more than anything else!

jimmy the doomed saint, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

who, ned? or can't you say.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

who sainted jimmy? or myabe you are too nom de plumish to tell.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i write them for contemporary reissues for revola. my friend does that company. it's a good reissue place. www.revola.co.uk - i hooked tim up with joe and the perrin reissue happened. i've written two and four that are coming out.

jimmy the doomed saint, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Outhud(who spelled my name wrong), !!!, Morgan Geist, Danny Wang, Tall Boys, and while never namechecked in the liner notes, when the Rapture did a blind listening session for Jockey Slut, Vitto said I was the best DJ and Luke said my party was the best party, so that was exciting.

Jimmy the doomed saint ='s James Kyllo? Joe Foster?

I've gotten others to write my liner notes(Lee Ranaldo, Jacques Amsellem and Alan Licht so far) but will be writing some liners to certain potential upcoming Acute releases.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

who, ned? or can't you say.

Oh it's nothing major but it's nice, I'm just waiting to get a copy of it (it is a tribute release and looks to be pretty great).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 20 February 2004 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

who would be mad enough to be joe foster? ha ha.

nah. i know there is going to be a smart arse ilxor ready to say my name (say my name say my name) - but please don't.

not james either.

jimmy the doomed saint, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

you can see tim's name if you flip the cd. everyone should check out the perrin section when it comes out. that would be cool. tim is the man!!

jimmy the doomed saint, Friday, 20 February 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i got thanked on an Adult. and a Plastikman record. 'course, i worked for the latter...

ken taylrr, Saturday, 21 February 2004 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

And I've written a couple of liner notes.

Huck, Saturday, 21 February 2004 00:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i got "thanks" on charles atlas' felt cover, "special thanks" on worsted weight. I'm expecting a giant slobbering kiss on the two new albums then a "fuck you".

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Saturday, 21 February 2004 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm let's see, the ones I remember off the top of my head are:

CDs
Lucid Nation (first)
Mick Farren/Deviants (can't remember if it was a CD or one of the 10's)
U.S. Bombs (first two)
I think one of the MC5 reissue CDs or 10"s but I forgot which one and my CDs are boxed
The Emotionals (vinly/UK)
I think I'm on a Brian Jonestown Massacre thank you somewhere, maybe Methrodrone or maybe not, can't find the booklet.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 21 February 2004 03:01 (twenty-two years ago)

there'll be at least two ilxors thanked on my next album, if it ever gets finished and/or released.

the surface noise (electricsound), Saturday, 21 February 2004 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

i wrote liner notes for a cd series called the roots of rhythm - a hodgepodge of blues, jazz, and soul. my editors had contracted stuff out to various old-guard rock critics, and most of the stuff we got back was unusable garbage so i wound up taking over. it was mostly fun and interesting, although i had no idea what i was doing a lot of the time.
i've been thanked on various albums that people on this board hate, and there's a picture of me in the dfa compilation disc.

lauren (laurenp), Saturday, 21 February 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

when I get my website up, I plan on thanking Lauren for all the records I've released, along with a few others.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Saturday, 21 February 2004 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)
