RYAN ADAMS SPRING TOUR CANCELLED DUE TO WRIST INJURY

SURGERY TO KEEP ADAMS OUT OF COMMISSION INDEFINITELY

Nashville, TN – Lost Highway recording artist, Ryan Adams will undergo surgery during the week of February 1 to repair a broken left wrist. Adams’s recently announced March tour dates will be cancelled while he recovers and completes physical therapy.
Adam’s broke his wrist during a show in Liverpool, England on January 22. About 90 minutes into the set, Adams was singing his song “Shadowlands” to the enthusiastic crowd from the edge of the stage. Adams took a step forward, and fell. The singer finished the song, but had to cancel the remainder of the show.

Well, the guy certainly is a huge dick, but that looks pretty damn painful. I suppose it's God's way of saying: "thou shalt not form an ironic metal band ala the Darkness with members of the Stills, you big-mouthed dollop of man-spooge!!"

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Whore-net?

Spinktron 2000 (El Spinktor), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

least he didn't post the SURGERY on the INTRAWEB like some people we know (named Jack White)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

At least this shouldn't hurt his ability to leave phone messages. WHEW!

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh my goodness, is this the new ryan adams robotic arm i've been hearing so much about? i hear they had to cut the old one off because it was making him a bitchy primadonna...

there was a really fun picture of him looking like crap in the last NME I looked at. All these things are actually pretty satisfying to see and hear since the First Ave show...

Jennie, Monday, 23 February 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I recognize the X logo (I'm guessing he means John Doe/Exene' band,...that seems about his speed), but what's with the 1974 bit? Please don't tell me that's the year he was born.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

from allmusic.com

Born Nov 5, 1974

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh man. No wonder he's such a jackass....he's so young!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

And obviously not that quick if he has to tattoo his birth year on his arm.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

he feels a bond with alanis since they share the same birth year.

you want me to be kidding but I'm not (teeny), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmph. I was born in 1974, and I'm still smart enough to realize that he's a jackass.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

This is why I drink in the audience, where's it safe.

subgenius (subgenius), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

You're right, Alex.
My, how things have changed. People over 30 used to be untrustworthy, and now we consider a 29 year old to be a baby. Hell yeah!

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Monday, 23 February 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

is it just me or does that fall off the stage sound hilarious? aside from the humor that is inherent in the outcome

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 23 February 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah har bloody har. only on a totally fucking cynical conservative forum like this can people actually think a musician falling off stage and suffering a serious injury is funny.

Colin Pritchard (pop zeus), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

to my roommate, Ryan Adams cancelling his tour is tragedy, to me Ryan Adams falling off a stage and breaking his wrist is comedy.

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

(conservative?)

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

What makes a little schadenfreude at Adams' expense "conservative"?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

A musician falling off of the stage is funny. Presumably the stage wasn't raked or anything, so how uncoordinated would one have to be to fall off?

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

he was contributing to a long lineage of stage mishaps, in the tradition of Ann-Margaret, Patti Smith, and Curtis Mayfield.

hstencil, Monday, 23 February 2004 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

don't forget Mark Sandman and Lee Morgan

Gear! (Gear!), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

... that's a shame.

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:42 (twenty-two years ago)

He broke his arm a mere four hours after cancelling an interview on me ten mintes before it was due to happen.

DON'T FUCK WITH DOM.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Y'all watch what you say for yr own good; that's obviously a super-deadly wrist-cannon and he's loaded for rockcrit

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Funny? No. Hilarious? Quite.

David Allen (David Allen), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

This one's funny cos he didn't die/suffer serious injury, he'll be fine. Same w/Patti's. Curtis M's was not so amusing.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

No one else laughs at other people's pain!

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

cozen to thread.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

That really sucked. I hope he is back in the game soon.

I'm not much of a fan of his overall work, but I really enjoy Love is Hell, Part 2. It's the best thing he's done.

He is a brilliant singer/songwriter. I hope it doesn't hinder his guitar playing.

corvo, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the humor comes from something like, "Well, this guy is such a self-involved jackass* and overhyped to boot, we're so sick of hearing about him... and since the stage serves as a symbol of his career in music... it's as if the ground beneath him has had enough of the little wanker..." or something like that.

Anyway, I personally think he's got a bunch of good songs, despite being a jackass.

I'm a good seven years younger, too.

Now Jack White, that guy deserves pain equal to the sonic torture he's dished out, him I wouldn't bat an eye.

John 2, Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

If Jack White sucked harder than any sucky musician ever sucked before, his absolute suckiest output wouldn't suck as hard as "Rock and Roll" sucks.

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

haha my memory is so bad. did I laugh at someone else's pain? I seem to remember I did.

or do I like ryan adams?

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

seven months pass...
Anyone ever see jay and silent bob. Yall are the losers that sit at home and wish yall were something important but because you can't be you just make fun of anyone that is important to anyone in hopes you will get a rise out of them. Yall are all loser who probably sit around and wack-off all day. none of you can give any concrete example of why ryan adams sucks or how he is a jackass other then it is your opinion then again you all probably love eminem and sucking your own cocks. If that is the case i would rather not share your opinions.

I -do- like eminem.
It would be nice to suck my own cock if I could get both flexible enough and over the homophobic reflex.
And gag reflex.
I'm going to regret posting this.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. Yes you are.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I, however, do not regret you posting this. I thank you for the entertainment.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

self cock sucking is both enjoyable and rewarding and the potential embarrassment in announcing that you perform such a feat is nullified by the fact that in order to do this you have to have an enormous dick

PEACE OUT BITCHEZ

ReALiTY (Gear!), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah but it's like tickling yourself. It's not actually as good as...
