billislord, Monday, 23 February 2004 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

The robotic Ian MacKaye (emo-bot) that I am building, will be sent from the Future and will destroy ALL CLUELESS HIPSTER MORONS***

ddb, Monday, 23 February 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

But this time he will be sponsored. All robots in the future will be sponsored like NASCAR's are today. Ian-boticus will be the Tide #15 robot.

Spinktron 2000 (El Spinktor), Monday, 23 February 2004 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

billislord, Monday, 23 February 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Hipsters aren't into hardcore....unless you mean Sonny Kay styled HARDCORE HIPSTERS....

But he RULES...so Funk Dat.

ddb, Monday, 23 February 2004 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you guys stupid? There are tons of well-accesorized kids into lots of lame haircut rock bands and bad hardcore.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you guys stupid?

ummm, FUCK YOU.

HARDCORE is NOT HIP.

What is your IDEA of a HIPSTER?
What is your IDEA of BAD HARDCORE?

ddb, Monday, 23 February 2004 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

in 500 years the consensus will be that they were religious icons carried around by a fringe cult of austere spiritualists who engaged in tribalism and sometimes austerity. when played, the icons almost always carry sermons concerning some aspect of the Faith. they are the only known remenants of the religion.

I can assure you, that if anyone here in WILLIAMSBURG (cough* cough*) is listening to The Daughters...both of them are NOT hipsters.

ddb, Monday, 23 February 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I've wondered that sort of thing sometimes, not only with hardcore 7"s (which there are more of than any other type and format of recording ever produced by man), but also "post-rock" and Fuxa/ Flowchart/etc.-type recordings. There's so much of it, and so much of it seems so uninteresting that I have trouble imagining people re-appropriating or fetishizing the records in a few years' time. What I really think, though, is that 1) I'm projecting too much onto the future and 2) I'm not in much of a place to speculate due to extreme indifference, cynicism and disconnection from a whole sphere of musical activity.

jazz odysseus, Monday, 23 February 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't wondered "clueless hipster morons", exactly, more "music-scene people" but I sort of get where you're coming from.

jazz odysseus, Monday, 23 February 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It will be precisely like what happens today with the huge number of fourth-tier psych and garage records from the 60's... the best will be discovered and put out in compilations, and the rest will moulder in dusty basements and be forgotten, or purchased by a few obsessive collectors. But it won't really have any effect on music today, really. I mean, the important bands of the 60's clearly influence people, but no one's influenced by those bands' crappy immitators who put out one single recorded in a garage in Montana or whatever.
