I went to see Francois K at fabric on saturday on a bit of a whim. crikey he was THE SHIT. doing this thing where he builds up with loads of reverb and white noise until its deafaningly loud, and then dropping the toughest house in its wake, so effective. also played freak by lfo, strings of life (never heard anything as gorgeous as that piano), la rock 01, whole lotta love be led zep, higher state of conciousness, and he seemed to be still loving it at 50 or however old he is. what a brilliant man. how often does he play? am i likely to see him again?

he plays often enough as far as I know. sounds ace. I chose Derrick Carter instead!

i really like the quiet village remix of "road of life", although it sounds more like radioslave than quiet village. what is wrong with that tracklisting?

that last CD looks OK actually. you know about that whole techno set tho, one thing I witnessed is that when he's booked in Europe at anything larger than a 150-capacity location (and those can't afford his travel expenses) if he veers an inch away from that musical autobahn, the floor is cleared, FK or no FK. so there's that knowledge when the time comes to sell CDs.

ploughing the same tired furrow is bad enough but doing it over three discs is just ridiculous.

So this is for a new mix series called Masterpiece? With a title like that, shouldn't MoS concentrate on putting out something that isn't datestamped HEY GUYS WASN'T MID- TO LATE 2007 AWESOME! ?

he is not a techno deejay, he really shouldnt try to be, either. that orange water track is nice, there's a couple other good jams here and there (chymera, drexciya, etc) through it. i dont think any deejay really need a 3 disc set of all dance joints. its pretty ludicrous.

Recently read backstory etc. of this (gleaned from a long, challenging jamtrek) in Tim Lawrence's excellent Arthur Russell bio:
