What do you think of the new music videos.

I don't like them. I just started to watch the music stations again. I haven't been watching them for a while.

What is with these new videos? Either they are bright and colorful, or they just seem boring.

I just saw "Mono" today. Jezz. What the hell was that? I saw "This Love." My God! Parts of it are BRIGHT WITH COLOR!!

And what is with "Magalomaniac"? What is that?

Music videos seem to be getting worse. I seem to just hope to see one from the ninteys insead of anticipate new videos.

I say Dud, but I'd like to know your opinions too.

What do you have to say about it?

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

If you aren't going to answer, don't put a f***ing post!

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:19 (twenty-two years ago)

BITCH!!

LEAVE ME ALONE!!

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 00:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks. Umm ... I think that the video directors are doing their best with what limited time and material they are given.

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

But do you like the videos dean?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

They could use more or less color.

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, I'm watching "Shake Your Blood" on Headbanger's Ball.

Jezz. GIRLS!!

But then there's DAVE GROHL, so it's fine.

I like how at the end the camera zooms out on Dave spinning his drum stick in his hand.

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I noticed that and pointed out the drumstick twirling in my Probot review. Along with the fact that it made me want to punch the TV.

Mr Deeds (Mr Deeds), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The Young Gunz and Ying Yang Twins videos are the hotness.

djdee2005, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the only proper response to this thread would be:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

David Allen (David Allen), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes David, but do you like the videos?

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how "Megalomaniac" rips off "House of Jealous Lovers" which rips off "PDA" which rips off that one Crowded House video I can't remember, but with flying Hitlers :)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes David, but do you like the videos?
-- dean! (dea...), February 24th, 2004.

Oh yes, those are great.

David Allen (David Allen), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

At the end of the "Through the Wire" video, why does Kanye West kiss that poster of Chacka Kahn? Is he just a big fan?

applepie baseball, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

...

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Or is that Chaka Khan? If it's not who is it?

applepie baseball, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

8,000 Chaka Khans died to make the aluminum for the CD singles of Through The Wire. kanye feels bad about it.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:09 (twenty-two years ago)

When you see the threatening shit in your inbox next week from all the fucked up and deluded random googlers of this sad little world, you'll wish you hadn't posted that.

@ m@n who knows (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

really, i just want to plezure bushwick

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

You certainly do have peculiar taste!!

applepie baseball, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, that Megalomania video is just puzzlingly awful - I half wondered if it's a play for 'cred' or 'relevence' but that doesn't seem to make sense, since Incubus are REALLY fucking popular, while nobody really important cares about the Rapture or whatever.

I dunno if this counts, but I saw the Fix Up Look Sharp video the other day, and it was awwwwful. I don't think they could've done a worse job with it, looked like something that might've been cutting edge in 1991.

Adrian (Adrian Langston), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 05:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It's come up on a few other threads recently, but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Maps" video is really pretty.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Maps is awesome

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the Blink viddeo is really well done too, but no one believes me I'm sure.

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
Revive, as I watch the video for My Immortal over and over again...

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

whats "Magalomaniac"?

ummm...i think the new Modest Mouse video is pretty good
and the new Liars video is also pretty cool

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

There hasn't been a single good fucking video at all this year!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Michel Gondry's video for Steriogram's "Walkie Talkie Man" is great, in that Gondry way.

All MTV videos these days seem to feature scantily clad models, no matter who the artist is.

morris pavilion (samjeff), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)

it's kinda ordinary for Gondry i thought, but totally him

Phoenix's 'Run Run Run' video is very pretty. I liked Auf Der Maur's recent one too. And I really like the one for Strokes 'Reptilia' (assuming it's Roman Coppola) which takes an incredibly obvious idea but the execution is superb and does make you (me at least) appreciate what they're doing more, which is the point of a video really.

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I like it too, except in the breakdown where the editing speeds up with the music, cutting really fast on every beat. I don't like when videos are cut on the beat like that - I think it's corny, and too obvious. With probably some notable exceptions, of course. (Plus I also dislike rapidly cascading images; makes my head hurt.)
