Should I Go See...

The Strokes - May 19th @ The Central Park Summer Stage
or
The Rapture & The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - March 31st @ Roseland Ballrom?

does it have to be one or the other? you could always stay home and get trashed

Oh And I Have Already Seen The Strokes

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 09:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Should I go and see some bands in a small venue or the Strokes in somewhere gigantic? Rhetorical question, and I don't even really like BRMC

___ (___), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Go and see the Rapture but make sure to miss BRMC.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah maybe you could high tail it over to the strokes right after the rapture finishes or something.

justin (Justin M), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 10:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Well he wouldn't have to hightail it very fast seeing as he has a month and a half to get there.

You forgot option (c): staying home.

Seriously, the Central Park show is going to be a scene, and I don't mean that in a good way. By contrast, I can't think of many times when I've had a good time at the shitty Roseland Ballroom, apart from AC/DC there last year, but that's only because I swindled my way into the press area.

I must confess to never seeing them live, but aren't the Strokes notorious for being the dullest live band on the planet since The Cars?

Excellent advice.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

damn, really?

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen both bands live to appreciative crowds...and the Rapture were better by a mile.

Exactly what I thought as soon as I read the choice!

roseland ballroom NOT a small venue. roseland ballroom roughly the size of central park. roseland ballroom horrible horrible place to see a band.

as for strokes in central park, if you really like the band, save yourself the 25 or 35 bucks and just go sit on the grass outside the concert area. you won't be able to see anything, but the sound is quite good out there, and you can have yourself a punk-rock picnic.

Has no one noticed that these two shows are months apart?

Thea, Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

The allowance just doesn't go as far as it used to.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh! I Decided to see The Rapture & BRMC

Dude (The Yellow Dart), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
And? (seeing as I'm considering the same lineup in MD tomorrow night, mostly for The Rapture).
