tupac - life goes on

is this his finest moment? ok this is pretty damn sentimental - to the point that it's almost crude - but that's what makes it great. anyone sceptical about the late mr.shakur need look no further than this track - love the thickness of his delivery, and the melodic twists he takes (particularly for the line "I don't wanna die all alone - but now you're gone"). he's not as detailed a lyricist as big, but he's got a flair for simple effective drama. no tupac song is complete without references to his own impending death, though -"have a party at my funeral" etc. he just about pulls of the melancholy voice-over at the end, too.

excellent tune as well. a really lush ballad, great breathy female vocals "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" throughout.

greatness, or what?

He's a livery cab driver in Cuba now, you know.

tupca is just awful. everything he's done has been so cliched, and his flow just sucks.

killian i like your threads and i don't want to see this one lost to the negativity, so i downloaded the track and you're right, it's great. it's really sad! i can imagine it over the end credits of a film (an 80s film...it reminds me of some 80s r'n'b i think?), with everyone drunk and tearful, singing along. i don't rate him as a lyricist next to big, but his voice is compelling, beautiful actually. and he completely pulls off the spoken word bit at the end!

well, i understand why people would be negative about 2pac - i can see that other rappers are more deserving of the worship. but i'm sure this track would thaw even the most hardened pac-cynic.

I've always been a Pac-hater but sometimes I'll hear something by him and it will really strike me....(I guess what I'm saying is that he's always bothered me to some degree but I think I like him alot more than I'll usually admit - kinda like U2 in this way)...I haven't heard this song though....what album is it off of?

I used to rap this with tears in my eyes after my goldfish died.

What's the one where he samples "That's Just The Way It Is?" That song rules.

I tuned out after the second one, but of course, respect all around.
