In fact, you've got the story wrong. Marvin Gaye's father, the Reverend Marvin Gay, Sr. -- Marvin added the "e" to his last name -- was a (secret) cross-dresser. Gaye was shot to death by his father on April 1, 1984; apparently, the murder followed an arugment triggered by Marvin's having discovered his father wearing women's clothing.
