Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Thursday, 26 February 2004 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Foo Fighters were actually going to be named "Food Fighters" but Dave was using a typewriter with a broken D and he tought it was a better name.

Umm, no.

I don't think Dave even has or had a type writer, then again, I could be wrong. But they got the name because Dave believes and really likes aliens.

That is why his record lable is called Roswell.

Aja (aja), Thursday, 26 February 2004 04:37 (twenty-two years ago)

The Unbelievable Truth are so called because - aw, fuck it.

billislord, Thursday, 26 February 2004 04:46 (twenty-two years ago)

The Band?

Jim Robinson (Original Miscreant), Thursday, 26 February 2004 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The Band's name was meant as a boast....i.e. they were The Band....and everybody else was just amateur.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 26 February 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I was joking.

But I always took it to be a little self-deprecating as well, as in they are 'the band' that stood behind Dylan or whatever.

Jim Robinson (Original Miscreant), Thursday, 26 February 2004 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I wanna see an ABC made-for-TV movie detailing the events leading up to the band being dubbed ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 26 February 2004 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't wait for the scene when they are drinking Pepsi, eating Doritos, and playing D&D in the basement!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 26 February 2004 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

The White Stripes got their name from Jack white's uncle, who was a zebra.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Thursday, 26 February 2004 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

ABC was named after the Aintree Bassmaster Crew!!!!!!!

Old Fart!!! (oldfart_sd), Friday, 27 February 2004 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ABBA were named after a local taxi company, set up by Genesis.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 27 February 2004 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Contrary to common beliefs U2 the plane was named after the band, not vice versa. You see, the professor who invented the plane had a time machine, and he used to travel into the future and dig U2 the band. He liked the band so much he named the plane after them, and the plane turn was the inspiration for the band's name. This of course creates a time paradox, which is the reason The White Stripes ended becoming a garage rock band, instead of deep house producers they were in the professor's future.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Friday, 27 February 2004 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Band Name Origins

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 27 February 2004 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART - Inspired by a strange Uncle of Don Van Vliet's who would expose himself, squeeze his dick until the head turned purple, then comment about it looking "like a big ole' beef heart"

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 27 February 2004 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

The Beatles were named after John Lennon dreamt about four and twenty Buddy Hollys being baked in a flaming pie by The Everley Brothers.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 27 February 2004 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The Everley Brothers.

Jim Robinson (Original Miscreant), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

"The White Stripes got their name from Jack white's uncle, who was a zebra."
