50 Cent vows Grammy boycott after losing to Evanescence: MuchMusic
By Angela Pacienza
TORONTO (CP) — 50 Cent has finally explained his strange behaviour at the Grammy Awards, vowing to boycott the annual event from now on.
The rapper, who had the highest selling album in the U.S. last year, walked to the microphone when the winner of the best new artist was announced at the show in early February. Only he didn’t receive the honour — it went to rockers Evanescence.
“I feel like I got jerked at the Grammys because I’m aggressive,” he told MuchMusic in an interview in London which aired Wednesday. “I don’t understand how (Evanescence) get best new artist. I will never go back to the Grammy Awards ever in my career.”
He blamed his loss on Grammy “politics.”
50 Cent’s behaviour confused many.

The sweet grapes are out of reach.

he said nice things about evanescence on the radio and said they deserved to win, i think. he mispronounced their names. and he said he didn't win because he didn't agree to perform or pay money to perform or something, that was the "politics" part.

oh boo hoo hoo. As if the Grammys mean anything to begin with. If anything, 50 Cent should be releived, as the "best new artist" Grammy is surely the kiss of DEATH, career-wise (just ask Milli Vanilli and Men at Work).

Hey men at work were okay....

Couldn't he have just said, "I dunno, I was like all stoned and shit, sorry!"

maybe 'twas an 'homage' to Derek Zoolander

"I shall boycott selling my CDs in America, for they have elected people who have different ideals than mine." -that's putting your money where your mouth is.

I'm sorry, but Amy Lee is ten times more aggressive than Fifty Cent. While he's all "Oh, please let me into your group, I have a nice stick" in his videos, Amy's thrashing around like a bastard and employing a clever drowning metaphor.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:41 (twenty-two years ago)

They deserve each other.

Indeed. I thought Evanescence broke up within hours of receiving the award. OTOH, 50 may still want the award, as death would do wonders for his career. Only in death will he become immortal.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 21:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Evanescence haven't split. I THINK what has happened is the fat lad with the beard (Ben Moody) left, allegedly because they'd become too superstar-ish and forgotten Jesus. Then they nicked the guitarist from Cold. Amy Lee then said that Cold were probably splitting up. Which was news to Cold. So Amy Lee apologised for that. Or something. Ben Moody is apparently writing stuff for Avwiw Wuveeeen's new album, Jesus content unspecified.

Can't wait for the diss tracks.

what a crybaby. who gives a fuck about Grammys after you've sold that many records?

50's next album: Win Grammys Or Die Tryin'

I heart Christian girls.

"Going Under" was a pretty hot track.

Le Coq, Thursday, 26 February 2004 05:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Al gave me a sterling anklet with "My Immortal" entwined in a rose + thorn pattern for Christmas. I'm lovin' it.

Le Coq, Thursday, 26 February 2004 05:13 (twenty-two years ago)

damn right you're going under, bitch.

An outdated idea. I mean, I got really excited when Aguilera won that award, but she's still bollocking around isn't she?

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Thursday, 26 February 2004 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Also what's with the bizarro Outkast rip-off intro to the new vid?

ENRQ (Enrique), Thursday, 26 February 2004 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how Evanescence got back together to receive the award.

Like it was the 'hall of fame' thing.

Did they play a song?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 26 February 2004 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

why isn't 50 adopting the same attitude as Eminem ('you think i give a damn about a Grammy?')

in other news Amy Lee is still mad hawt

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 26 February 2004 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I was wondering the same thing as Stevem's question (I am indifferent to the followup assertion).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 February 2004 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Eminem did win some Grammies tho didn't he?

Fiddy is his own man, with his own range of sneakers.

Yo Amy, we practically got the same name. So, you wanna hang out?
