I'm making another compilation: somewhere between drunken and creepy

Tracks I have so far:

Tom Waits - That Feel, Poor Edward, Lucky Day, Rainbirds
Slim Whitman - I Remember You
Johnny Cash - We'll Meet Again
Nick Cave - Jangling Jack
Bob Drake - They Live In The Well
Calexico - Untitled III
Elvis Presley - Burning Love
Beach Boys - Never Learn Not to Love, You're So Good To Me, Wind Chimes

Not sure where this one is going. I'm scared it might centre too much on Waits who is an obvious choice for drunkenness and creepiness. I'm thinking of maybe putting some ODB on there but it might be too cheeky and ruin the mood.

Can anyone recommend more music that sounds pissed or dark or both?

Try "Good and Evil" by Grand Funk. It's not their typical stuff. It is from All The Girls In The World Beware, 1974 or therabouts and quite creepy. Good luck finding it, though...

jim wentworth (wench), Thursday, 26 February 2004 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

You need some Tindersticks on there, stat. Pick any song from their first three albums.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 26 February 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 26 February 2004 03:08 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd go for 'tonight's the night' by neil young tho pocorn's suggestion is good too
instead of 'burning love' put on elvis' 'i'm leavin' which is genuinely spine-tingly, drunk and regretful
