A hard song identification (I think)

There's a song, greatly used in films which is driving me mad. I hummed it to a bloke at work and he said it's called Boom (Why Does My Heart Go Boom?). There is a song called that by Jack Hylton written in 1938. He sang some of the lyrics (in English), but I'm pretty sure it's in French. It was the right tune. Any help for a frustrated searcher gratefully accepted.

BOOM (originally 'Boum' in French)

(Charles Trenet)

Boom!
Why did my heart go boom!
Me and my heart go boom!
Boom-tiddy-boom
‘Cause I love you

Boom!
When you are near it’s boom!
I could see love in bloom
Boom-tiddy-boom
All around you

Was it at seven or half past eleven
Or cruising about the Pacific
I only know I can’t let you go
Your effect upon me is terrific

Boom
When we’re a bride and groom
Oh won’t my heart go boom,
Boom-tiddy-boom
‘Cause I love you

Ou en français:

Boum
Quand notre cœur fait Boum
Tout avec lui dit Boum
Et c'est l'amour qui s'éveille.
Boum
Il chante "love in bloom"

Boum
Le monde entier fait Boum
Tout l'univers fait Boum
Parc'que mon cœur fait Boum Boum
Boum
Je n'entends que Boum Boum
Ça fait toujours Boum Boum
Boum Boum Boum...

I enjoyed it 'Toto The Hero'

Cheers Nick. Very quick answer and I've now found it. Thanks a lot.

I think the Thompson Twins sing that song in a episode of "Tin Tin" right before their car explodes. "Land of Black Gold?"

not the new wave band, understand

Doesn't France Gall have a song called "Boom Boom" (not at home, can't check)?

Jo Jo I was thinking exactly that - I was reading Land Of Black Gold the other day. It's on the first page, it's an adaptation of the tune by (presumably) fictional car repair firm Autocar - "Boom, one day your car goes boom / Don't give up in gloom / Autocar to the rescue!"

That is lodged in my brain, too. I've always had my own tune for it in my head, which turned out to be not to far from the real thing.

one month passes...
I first heard the song in Toto the Hero, but I recently heard it in Something's Gotta Give. It's unfortunately not on the soundtrack.

I was this close to submitting an answer until I realize it was NOT "My Heart Goes Bang Bang Bang" by Dead Or Alive.
