e.g. I just bought, for some reason, Rickie Lee Jones' debut, and even though I know I'll never listen to it, I'm keeping it anyway just in case some future me has a "Hmm... Rickie Lee Jones" moment.

I'm guilty of that as well. I have three Missing Foundation discs, just in case, y'know? If you're not familiar with them, Missing Foundation could only tenuously be described as "music". It's more just caterwauling screams and arguably rhythmic pounding on random scraps of sheet metal. I usually put on a single track for about 30 seconds, laugh, and then turn it off. Why do I need three discs of this garbage? Still, I can't seem to part with any of them.

Rickie Lee and Joanie occupy the same place in my collection. Unscratched. That's not a knock on either, but I just don't get into them much.

Oh- that's a lovely album, though. Give it a spin or two, it's very good.

I've got three Jale albums, each of which I've listened to no more than 2 times. Mid 90's, canadian east coast jangly girl guitar pop. I just can't drum up the enthusiasm, but I fel bad parting with them all the same. 8 Depeche Mode CD singles of mine, too. I don't listen to them, but it would feel blasphemous to sell them.

I've sold back several Byrds records for precisely this reason (ie; not that it's bad, I just know that I'll never put it on).

If you're referring to returning it right after it's bought, I'm now careful enough with my purchasing and ducats to (usually) avoid the need. However, I know that I did this with Bowie's "Earthling", which I made the mistake of listening to after having obtained a bunch of Razormaid compilations. All's well that ends well, though, as I later had a friend burn me a copy, and David doesn't really need my money anyhow.
