BILOXI MISSISSIPPI OH YEAH

Here's a press release. Also he's apparently playing Essence Fest here in New Orleans in July which I may go to--however Essence is kind of a huge and obnoxious deal in the Superdome which may not be too much fun. Biloxi is great though--it's a good excuse to go to the (crappy) beach (with distressing oil rig views) and woohoo I'm very excited.

Fuck me, he's actually playing Pittsburgh!

I'm so there. Seen him twice before: Birmingham NEC on the Batman tour, which ROCKED ASS, and Glasgow Celtic Park on the Diamonds and Pearls tour, which sucked a big fat one, largely due to the venue.

Still, Prince touring WOOOOOOOOOO

I am thinking of going to see him in Reno.

Reno!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 28 February 2004 05:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I love how he's playing all these bizarro, throw-a-dart-at-a-map places. It's probably some kind of evil J*ehovah's Witness scheme.

June 12 Bossier City CenturyTel Center

This makes me giggle.

Saw him two years ago in DC and his was muy fabbo -- about five shows in one. Rainbow Children stuff was actually pretty engaging, as was his declaration that Abraham Lincoln was a racist.

I thought that Abraham Lincoln was a racist? Also an atheist, BTW.

Chris F. (servoret), Saturday, 28 February 2004 07:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Sweeeeeeeet. I am there. One of the best live performers I've ever seen.

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 28 February 2004 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

He was on Leno the other night and said the concerts will be done "in the round", Lovesexy-era style. Also, supposed to be the "last" time he plays any of the ol'chestnuts like Purple Rain, etc.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Saturday, 28 February 2004 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

This makes me giggle.

And the Nashville Gaylord Centre didn't?

I'll admit that it's better than most people acknowledge, but what's he gonna do? Hire Mahavishnu to back him up?

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Saturday, 28 February 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

He's coming to town, but the tickets are FIFTY DOLLARS for the cheap seats alone. I'm so waffling on this thing.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 29 February 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

my friend saw him in melbourne recently, apparently was great

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 29 February 2004 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Tickets are crazy expensive but... 50 bucks for 1 Prince show vs 5 x 10 bucks for 5 horrible indie rock shows that all fade into each other, which is a better deal? (I've seen the Blonde Redhead like 5 or 6 times and they're all one big noisy well-coifed blur.)

BTW in trying to find ticket information I've discovered that Internet Prince fans are insane and terrifying and that all Prince websites are purple.

adam (adam), Sunday, 29 February 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Definetly worth seeing, and you're a fool if you don't go to the afterparty. In fact if you're gonna be cheap, find out where the afterparty is going to be and go to that instead of the main gig (presuming he has an afterparty 70/30 in your favour).

Jedmond (Jedmond), Sunday, 29 February 2004 01:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Adam's logic has me sold if I can find anyone else in this town who will buy it too. The idea of a Prince afterparty in State College, PA is completely bonkers.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 29 February 2004 02:02 (twenty-two years ago)

He did one in Brisbane (which is small as buggery - but then I don't know how State College is)- in fact he got kicked out by the club's manager for playing on too late. He just likes playing music, simple as that.

Jedmond (Jedmond), Sunday, 29 February 2004 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

His afterparties have been alternatively legendary and disappointing; it depends on the vagaries of his mood. Now that he's a Witness, who knows what'll set him off.
Don't hedge your bets: if you've never seen him, he puts on a helluva show.
Until you've seen a 5'2" man in high heels backflip off a piano into the splits, you haven't lived.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 29 February 2004 05:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen the Prince & The Revolution - Live! VHS from 1984, and if I can be certain this will be a third as good I am soooo there.
