I don't see how Metallica can be compared to Motley Crue. For about two years in the mid to late 1980's, Metallica were the best band in the world. Better than the Police, U2, the Pixies, the Talking Heads and anyone else who colorably belongs in that discussion.

I will always regret being too young to have caught on to Metallica during the Master of Puppets/...And Justice For All phase of their career. I still listen to those two albums all the time. As far as I'm concerned they represent the best that metal has to offer.

All of this makes their subsequent wussification, alienation of their fan base and retreat up into their own buttholes all the more depressing.

Metallica have done two songs I totally love ("Fade to Black," "Whiskey in the Jar"); Motley Crue have never done a song I totally love. Metallica CDs currently on my shelf (i.e., I still own them and they're not in storage in a garage in Pennsylvania) include *Ride the Lightning* and *Garage Inc.*; Motley Crue CDs currently on my shelf include *Greatest Hits.* I went to see the movie about Metallica; I didn't read the book about Motley Crue. Motley Crue is much more entertaining in a variety of ways. Tommy perhaps you have the wrong idea of what this forum is all about - the content of what we write doesn't really matter, it's mainly for testing out one's own spelling & grammar skills.
