Nikki Sixx gets it so wrong. But has Lar's made even worse clangers?
And oh yeah, Taking Sides.... Gotta be Metallica.

"Passion!"
"Orgasmic!"
"Medicine!"
"Thank you, Metallica!"

I will always regret being too young to have caught on to Metallica during the Master of Puppets/...And Justice For All phase of their career. I still listen to those two albums all the time. As far as I'm concerned they represent the best that metal has to offer.
All of this makes their subsequent wussification, alienation of their fan base and retreat up into their own buttholes all the more depressing.

Motley Crue made two great albums before jumping the shark (some give them Dr. Feelgood; I think they're high).
3 is greater than 2.

While i'm sure a lot of people were thinking the same thing about Nikki's band, i understand why someone from such a flamboyant group does not see a purpose in the anti-style Metallica. To a Kiss disciple like Nikki, I bet he equated a lack of showmanship, costumes, etc. as a total rip off. Those things are his band's reason to exist.

BTW- The Crue book is a better read than watching that Metallica movie. I'd rather read about coke and sex than watch bad group therapy.
And fuck it, I would hang out wih Vince Neil before I would hang w/Lars.
― QuantumNoise (Justin Farrar), Thursday, 18 May 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)
No I don't. They got *better* when they sold out and went glam bubblegum in the late '80s (But not *that* much better.)

And I wasn't so crazy about the Metallica movie (said so when I reviewed it), but I don't give a shit about coke and groupies. People who go to therapy bore me less than people who use coke and go to strip bars. (If there was a Crue book about all about how their music was half-assed compared to Poison's, I might read that.)
