Reviewing The Wildhearts 'endless nameless' this blithering titwit says it 'doesn't sound that different from their earlier releases'. Its obvious he hasn't heard it as it sounds like ministryvsmottthehoople in a bare knuckle tit slapping fight.

seriously, i know amg writers live here, so can i complain to someone up top?

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Too right, Endless Nameless is one great lost album, tis a pity that it was made by such ambulance chasers.

mzui, Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

huh? ambulance chasers?

scottjames23 (worrysome-man), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, doomed by their own shit karma really.

mzui, Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

The worst review on AMG is obviously this one:

Who the fuck is Dan Gizzi anyway?

djdee2005, Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

That MF Doom review has very strange list of related albums

Sym (shmuel), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I was wondering about the MF Doom review just the other day. I especially like the fact that their Doom bio refers to it as "critically praised." Um, like everywhere but on AMG.

I found this one kinda silly:

The blithering titwit is about as far up as you could go.

"it rolls on through a series of very English-sounding pop tunes written by band members."

bahah! way to say absolutely nothing at all in a review.

too much for my mirror (too much for my mirror), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

They are written by monkeys I tell ya. Monkeys with typewriters.
(Except for ILMers who write for AMG, since they are all wonderful and great and perfect).

This passage in particular: "XII is also notable for the high quality of its sound, which filters the energy of their sound through a carefully crafted soundscape that brings out all the details of their sound[.]" SOUND SOUND SOUND SOUND SOUND!

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:32 (twenty-two years ago)

this review kind of upset me. But then I got over my pain by remembering that it was blatantly wrong.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

whenever i see a thread about AMG i wonder what some of the better writers here on the board consider their worst AMG reviews? Anyone willing to link?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Eh, quite a few of mine strike me as generic.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:13 (twenty-two years ago)

no way!

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

nah, ned, even if I disagree with them sometimes, yours always stand out as some of the best. they always give an idea of what the album or band is like and a sense of where you are coming from (which is always crucial).

jack cole (jackcole), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:53 (twenty-two years ago)

i kid i kid

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:57 (twenty-two years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 1 March 2004 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

This highly informative one has always been a favorite of mine.

This is some ignorant bullshit saying that the best New Orleans trumpet player around is "emulating what he thinks a New Orleans trumpeter should sound like" and that he's corny. Motherfucker.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 1 March 2004 15:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Blount, Andy usually compiles lists of his amg reviews on his blog.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

If I tried to start cataloging something like that, I might be done...oh, I dunno, July?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Well aren't we prolific ;)

djdee2005, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:56 (twenty-two years ago)

It's been a busy few years.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 02:27 (twenty-two years ago)

If I tried to start cataloging something like that, I might be done...oh, I dunno, July?

That's why I only throw up links of recent stuff every couple months. 20-40 a week x 4+ yrs = forget cataloguing.
