Like David Bowie. - saw him the other day and it sucked. All the old tracks like Ashes to Ashes and well other ones. were ruined by the translation into a stadium rock context.

my private audience with syd barret last year was slightly marred by a less than perfect 'see emily play', but there ya go. he made up for it with a storming 'fell in love with a girl'

A part of my heart dies every time I hear Michael Stipe yell "COOOOOOOL" at the end of every chorus when they do "Man On The Moon" live.

I actually like that little touch, ernormously geeky as it may be. were rem ever really COOL? they have always been kind of arty, geeky, prococious, intelligent, interesting kind of cool, but not really cool in like a 50 cent cool kind of way, or even a (well i was gonna say indie-rock cool kind of way, but I guess that's what they used to be -- college-rock indie cool guys)...but, michael stipe, cool. maybe i'm just too young too remember michael stipe as cool. or maybe i'm confused as to what cool is. this is probably a little incoherent. anyway, 'COOOOOL', i thought, was just kind of cool in a earnest, happy, geeky kind of way, and not really symbolic of michael stipe's decay, or the decay of society in general. but i could be wrong, though.

Blur really can't do This Is A Low anymore, because they have him from the Verve on guitar and he mangles the shit out of the solo everytime. He might not be very old though.
