i have boxes of indie 7"s - BOXES. Most are no-name bands, DIY jobs, with the occasional Heartworms, Boyracer or Sweep The Leg Johnny 7" thrown in. I have no idea what to do with them.

I'd put them on ebay in a 'lot' with a low opening bid, but who'd pay the shipping? I'm not sure anyone will pay $20 for a 'grab bag' of 7"s.

Indie kids are stupid.

BICICLETA EMOCIONAL!!! (Jon Williams) (ex machina), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i suggest turning them into ART and then trying to sell ART.

Ian Johnson (orion), Monday, 1 March 2004 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Try the sidewalk - worked for me.

B61 (calstars), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:14 (twenty-one years ago)

(sigh) - ok. I'll put them up this week. any suggestions on what the opening bid should be for each lot of 50? (no wiseass remarks please)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:19 (twenty-one years ago)

$10 is a good starting point. make sure every batch has at least two or three particularly good things in it.

the surface noise (electricsound), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

$10

B61 (calstars), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:21 (twenty-one years ago)

How many altogether?

I might buy them.

Sasha (sgh), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

shit, there's hundreds. some doubles.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 1 March 2004 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

On second thoughts, I shudder to think of the postage.

Sasha (sgh), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:19 (twenty-one years ago)

ah, media would only be about $8 or $10 or so per 50

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:21 (twenty-one years ago)

tell ya what - if you really want them, i'll sell you each lot of 50 for $12 each, POSTAGE PAID. Lemme know if yr serious, and God help you. Also let me know if you want me to leave out the doubles (and triples...and quadruples....). I'll also post here some of the ones whose names I recognize, so you can get an idea of what you're getting yourself into.

fellow ILMers, sorry to pimp goods here on this fine board - I just wanna get rid of this stuff!

You can do what Don Caballero did, and make all those 7" into your future album cover. Hope you live near a busy street corner.

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:32 (twenty-one years ago)

OK - here's some of the ones I recognize (please don't ask me to break up the lots, that would defeat the purpose, but I'll throw some of this into each lot): The Cannanes, Capt.Qitn (Eric from Home, Jenny from Pee Shy), Electroscope, Esat River Pipe, Corm, Boyracer, The Bartlebees (featuring Dean Wareham!), Jimmy Eat World, Red Monkey, V3, Peter Jefferies, Holly Golightly, Suzanne Langille, Sweep The Leg Johnny, Sunday Puncher, Shy Camp, Roads to Space Travel, Jenny Mae, Killowatthours, Mecca Normal, Illyah Kuryahkin, True Love Always, Tullycraft, and many, many, many more. Also lots of comp 7"s featuring GBV, Six Cents & Natalie, Cub, June Panic, etc.

While I'm being crass, I'm also selling CD lots, 8 for $20ppd. You could get The Wedding Present, Beatnik Filmstars, Forstella Ford, Irving Klaw Trio, Caustic Resin, Henry's Dress, Velocity Girl, Flin Flon, Alger Hiss, Juneau, The Gothic Archies, Franklin Bruno, New Sweet Breath, Numbver One Cup, Spiny Anteaters, Centro-Matic, Tren Brothers, Bablicon, Ill Ease, Sukpatch and more.

Four words: frisbees for the kids!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Mmm. Only there aren't kids, and the dog can't catch.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 1 March 2004 06:48 (twenty-one years ago)

roger, i'm very interested in this:

Capt.Qitn (Eric from Home, Jenny from Pee Shy)

also, do you know anybody that has the home box set? or any other screw music forever obscurities?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know anything about the Home box set. I also have the split with Meringue somehwre I think, but thats it.

Brad's a nice guy. That's all I can say about Home, really.

I guess you're not interested in a lot of 50? :)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 1 March 2004 07:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Drop 'em off at Salvation Army.

j j dance, Monday, 1 March 2004 15:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Oddest thing: In good old Woodley town (Berkshire, England), along with the old Batchelors/ValDoonican/KenDodd singles, about 20 straight edge / hardcore singles, all US and mint condition. So I took a handful and the kid on the stall said Oh £2...

The only names I recognised was a euro tour split single by Bikini Kill, and "Sleeper" but not the Louise Wener bunch but some US..

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 1 March 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

also, do you know anybody that has the home box set?

i think i just might, g!.

roger, any v3 stuff you might have i'd be glad to take off of your hands.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

um... no. not that i'm aware of, at least.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:37 (twenty-one years ago)

oh. damn.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 1 March 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

seven years pass...

This is a good question. I try to be environmentally sensitive. With my dad deceased, I have inherited heaps and heaps of 45s which used to precious but in the age of mp3 and Spotify, can finally be replaced. Basically I am writing all the titles down in the notebook.

Beat up old records have no value at all and I don't think they can be recycled in any way. They will have to be pulverized and thrown away. This is a sad moment for me.

โตเกียวเหมียวเหมียว aka Don Nots (Mount Cleaners), Saturday, 8 October 2011 10:53 (thirteen years ago)

I would quite like to have some of the 45s mentioned in this thread.

the pinefox, Saturday, 8 October 2011 10:57 (thirteen years ago)

If they're really old and have cool-looking labels I suppose I should hang on to them whether they suck or not.

My grandfather had a jukebox which means we have loads of shit 45s from the 1950s-70s sitting around.

I have crap seven inches from the eighties and nineties but I wouldn't throw any of them away, they represent a unique period in music to me now.

โตเกียวเหมียวเหมียว aka Don Nots (Mount Cleaners), Saturday, 8 October 2011 12:27 (thirteen years ago)

Take them to youe local charity shop / thrift store! They'll end up in some collector's basement, which will at least give them a stay of execution for a few years.

|III|||II|||I|I||| (Matt #2), Saturday, 8 October 2011 12:59 (thirteen years ago)

I gave a big batch of 7"s to the clerk at the tiny indie record store when I moved overseas because I couldn't figure out what to do with them. It wasn't until a few years later that it dawned on me that the box included Pavement's Slay Tracks record. I think about that a lot.

She Got the Shakes, Saturday, 8 October 2011 13:50 (thirteen years ago)

OMG that ep is worth an obscene about of money!

โตเกียวเหมียวเหมียว aka Don Nots (Mount Cleaners), Saturday, 8 October 2011 14:54 (thirteen years ago)

Just make a catalogue on ebay and sell them. I'm pretty sure they'll make someone else happy and you'll get money for it.
