Massacre - Funny Valentine

Anyone know this album? I listened to it for the first time today. I think it's amazing. I've listened to lots of Fred Frith but I was still blown away by what he could get out of his guitar on this, the soaring singing feedback tones over ambient washes and the noise shards and the more 'normal' soloing, the range of timbre and dynamics he achieved. Bill Laswell's ridiculous 80s bass tone actually serves as a nice timbral foil. I don't think I've heard an album before that achieves qualities of both totally falling-apart post-no-wave-ness as well as supreme prog bombast.

one year passes...
I am downloading like mad the following types of torrents:

fred frith
massacre
material
pulse
charged
Pharoah
zorn
laswell

Laswell gets a lot of warranted flack about his albums, but the live stuff is golden. He plays bass like a MOTHERFUCKER in Pulse. Currently on Dimeadozen is Pulse 1984 in Japan. I suggest you check it out!

Frith plays guitar like a motherfucker in that Pulse, too.

four months pass...
ReR USA just reissued the first Massacre album (Killing Time), and wow, it's great. I had only heard a couple of Massacre tunes (and don't really like Laswell that much), and I was missing out. awesomeness
