DITC > tha Alkaholiks. "Soul Clap," "Fat Pockets," "Sally Got a One- Track Mind," "Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down" (disregarding the lyrics -- can't fault Diamond D. for those)... and a fucking Veldt remix to boot. No contest.

ethan, Sunday, 14 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

three weeks pass...
Every DITC song without Big L is awful, so obviously it was going to be downhill once he died. 'Day One' is incredible tho, it must be heard by everyone. The Liks have 'HipHop Drunkies' and 'Likwidation', which was an amazing one-two punch but the two albums I've heard are patchy and the Neptunes one was shockingly bad. So what is that Likwit Fusion thing from a few years ago like?

This is nuts.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 22 January 2007 17:56 (eighteen years ago)

Well I mean maybe they have gone downhill since he died, yeah, but there is plenty of good DITC that L wasn't on.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Monday, 22 January 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)

Someone tell me more about Milano and 1) how he got to do a track by himself with Pun despite never being mentioned as a member of DITC and 2) why he named himself after a cookie

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 22 January 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

Yo I camel-clutch mics, a truce gahzuntite

he's like the capadonna of DITC

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 22 January 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

thats an ohhla transcription, i figure he might have been making a sneezing noise there

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 22 January 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

Milano was just some cat down with both DITC and Terror Squad.

"Rep for the slums" by Milano = best track of 2001 that isn't "get down" by Beanie, "i got love" by Nate Dogg or "first nigga" Primo remix by 'G Rap. He was the illest white goose on the cover of that 12".

Y'all know the very first shit Diamond D ever did? - "i'm the king" by Raheem (apparently ghostwritten by Lord Finesse) and the beyond classic "i'm not playing" by Ultimate Force from the Jazzy Jay "cold chillin' in the studio" LP. There's about 8 unreleased Ultimate Force (which was Diamond D's first group) tracks recorded in 1990 that are supposed to be coming out sometime soon.

"Devil's son" is the one for me as far as Big L goes. Total headfuck when i first heard that on Future Flavas. I think that might be my favorite Showbiz beat.

A Bless from the Wildlife EP thing was ill ("i like 'em in white thongs with no skids") and they still have a good 12" in them here and there like them "my bad" and "on my way" Showbiz joints with Fat Joe + Party Arty

deej.. (deej..), Monday, 22 January 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

"no wonduh (the projects)" + the DITC posse cut "5 fingaz of death" off Diamond's 2nd album >> anything on "stunts, blunts and hip hop"

He had some great mid 90s unreleased joints too like "with the dope sound" and "flip styles" with Sadat X + Grand Pu' too.

However, in a recent interview, Tash said that the group may record a new album after all because all three members are on good terms and are willing to record again. Though it is not an unbeatable obstacle, the fact that J-Ro now lives in Sweden does complicate matters.
