If anyone has the original Factory records cassette boxed version of Educes Me, get it on E-Bay, one just sold for £155, cripes!

There's someone on Neworderonline forum who has all the factory linen box cassettes ever made...apart from this one. Maybe now he has!

There's no greater Factory obsessive than myself, but I have none of these boxes. Why? They're still f-cking *cassettes* after all - the crappest medium ever.

They have nice stuff in them (ReturnDDC has sandpaper, umm and others.)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a few, they are kinda desirable, what with the colour coding and expanded artwork, trouble is, If I want to collect them all I'd have to buy a load of shit I don't like i.e. Railway Children, Happy Mondays, Wim Mertens...

There are actually only around 20 produced, mainly NO & JD.

20? no, loads more than that. I got "Substance" New Order, I think it was one of the last...

I once had dinner with Wim Mertens in Paris. What a lovely man! Sings like a mermaid.

Momus (Momus), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 16:59 (twenty-one years ago)

They all worth money? I have 2 of the Durruti Column cassette boxes, Without Mercy and another. Bought them in the "new age" section of Crazy Rhythms records in Montclair NJ, from R. Stevie Moore...

I have Squirrel and G-Man somewhere, but I'm still loath to part with it, even theoretically

I really love Merten's 'Circles' from "Maximizing The Audience". The "Close Cover" compilation on Windham Hill is a good introduction though it does have some vacant moments (they picked all the pieces that sounded the most Windham Hill); it also contains the main themes Greenaway used for "Belly of an Archetect".

meh. dr.c otm about cassettes being teh sux0r. isn't most wim mertens stuff still in print anyway?

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

'Close Cover' seconded. I used to listen it at dawn coming back from clubs/parties. Fantastic stuff.
What should I pick up next?

two years pass...
Poor Wim had his thread derailed into a discussion of Factory cassettes.

I'm working my way through the Moment box set. Good stuff.

I sold the yellow Wim Mertens box on ebay around 2003, got £190 for it. Cheers whoever bought it!
