What can I expect? Dunno yet if its one or the other, though

Is he performing as Herbert or as Radioboy? If it's the latter, expect lots of live sampling of various household items and corporate merchandise. I enjoy his shows in this guise, but it's not really that danceable.

I've seen him perform the live sampling under his own name and the Radioboy moniker. Basically, if he's playing live, be prepared for a visual treat. If he's DJ'ing, then that's different.

i think he's DJing

I've never seen him DJ, so I can't recommend one way or the other. I'm sure it'll be good, but his live performances are particularly unique.

Manuel, have you heard his Mistakes mix on Tresor? It's amazing!

Philippe (Philippe), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, it's great

semi-related: dani siciliano's concert was mediocre, it didn't seem to go anywhere.

i've seen him DJ twice, it was boring both times. his "mistakes" mix is overrated too. search a little harder and there are lots of other people doing the micro/glitch thing better.

oh yeah, no one danced, and everyone (in Melbourne) moved on to a proper party.

it must be hard work to be so jaded

I've seen Herbert DJ two or three times and it's always been stellar - he does micro/glitch, sure, but he also does full on stoopid dance music, old disco, classic Detroit shit, whatever. Last time he played in SF he ended with 20 minutes of straight dancehall. People danced their asses off. Maybe Melbourne was an off night, but I can't really imagine him being boring.

Saw him live at in club in Detroit a couple years ago when Bodily Functions came out, with Dani Siciliano and another dude, and it was a great show. Newspapers as music!

one night last year in NYC he slipped Robin S's "Show Me Love" in between all this drano-unclogging glitch-dub shit and it fucking rocked. a really really good DJ
