JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:56 (twenty-one years ago)

you post fucking fast!

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

(I think the $64,000 question is "Will someone say Timbaland and manage to keep a straight face?")

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, Timbaland, PUTS, etc

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll go with Erick Sermon.

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Also you forgot P DIDDY.

Broheems (diamond), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

broheems otm!

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You forgot about Em!

who's clearly the best rapper of the bunch, tho a slightly one-trick producer.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

lil jon or rza
what about outkast?

or eminem

asfdzxc (asfdzxc), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

RZA is so underrated as an MC

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Does Em count yet? xpost :(

bnw (bnw), Thursday, 4 March 2004 03:59 (twenty-one years ago)

how bout Pismo from Burnt Batch?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

haha but eminem's productions suck!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

is there truly no bo jackson of rap music?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Cee-Lo. I know the new album is supposed to be all outside producers but it's not, and Lo produces some of the best stuff on the record.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Cee-Bo.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

haha no way.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

nah hes just tired. what are the production credits on the eminem show? that had some of the tightest melodies ever. that bassoon synth in fuckin uh without me. i love that.

asfdzxc (asfdzxc), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

is cee lo gay?!

asfdzxc (asfdzxc), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

[RZA]
Tony Starks make the narc's dogs bark
With the Benz parked
Up against the boulevard
Starks had the bone sparked
One cop tapped the window glass
Like a cymbal crash,
"What the fuck son! You trying to break glass?"
He flashed his badge,
"License and registrations"
At that moment
His fat partner started chasin'
Chicken heads they was racing wit' they hearts pacin'
For snatching gold
Trying' to dip into the god's basement
Our location
Lead steel shed spread
Cracked shorty head
Left sweetie there for dead
Ghetto poodles
Fingers sticky from cheese doodles
Starving' for a 50 cent bag of Oodles and Noodles
Neighborhood sick wit' it
Clinton 'bout to cut WIC
Maybe one ya'll rich rap niggas need to politic
Reach for the sky
They throw bleach in your eye
Don't teach you why
You be keeping 'em high
Dipped like an Oreo cookie
In cold milk, bold silk
Gold-filled cap, Wu wear hat,
Low tilt
True Islamic
We speak verbal rhyme phonics
Why ya'll trying to change this hip hop to technotronics?

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, I humbly submit David Banner for the judges' consideration.
But fuck it, I pick kanye.

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

he loses points though since he has the worst wu solo albums

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i think i'll add RZA to top 3 fer me

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

except for the white guy

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree w/Banner

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Jermaine Dupri?

bnw (bnw), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

this whole thread is like one gigantic xpost

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

fuck jermaine

asfdzxc (asfdzxc), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i wouldnt fuck him, but his beats are tight

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

he loses points though since he has the worst wu solo albums

True. I try to block them from my mind.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

i like Bobby Digital

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, what about Sylvia Robinson

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

http://img30.photobucket.com/albums/v89/YoungHove/chronic_vs_college.jpg

I guess I'm deciding between these two.

Sym (shmuel), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

exhibit B:

Stop the fader of the RAM, pass my watts through my pre - amp
Them can't stress the beat vamp the shit'll get blam
At full throttle, hot lead propels throughout my nozzle
Crack your soul like bottles, leave you stiff as models
You fag, you couldn't pull one drag - off my blunt
You couldn't punch your way out of a wet paper bag
With scissors in your hands - bitch, the RZA
I stand close to walls, like number four the lizard
Enchant a few solar panels, blast off like Roman Candles
Rap vandals, stomp your ass like Randall McDaniel
You cocker spaniel dogs, can't fuck with our catalog
Put your lights out and leave your brain inside a fog

----he kinda sounds clumsy around the "with scissors in your hands" part, but the way he runs all the words together in the "Enchant a few solar panels" part is awesome.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

does warren g make his own beats?

TX, Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

didn't De La start making all their own beats? i firmly stand by anything before the art official inteligence albums

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

ice cube

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:14 (twenty-one years ago)

De La produced themselves on 'Stakes is High'

oops (Oops), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

stakes is high is prob the one of theirs i listen to most after all the years

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

really?

cinniblount (James Blount), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i havent listened to a de la album in sooo long

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

yes

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost again

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

NAS

William Wiggins, Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't played a De La album in a while either, but I put "Ooh" on almost every mix.

Colin Beckett (Colin Beckett), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I think RZA is the best rapping producer. I would probably put JayDee second cause I think his rapping style is actually very original. I think MF Doom is better than both of these guys as a rapper, but I don't really know much of him as a producer. The beats on the Viktor Vaughn album were the best beats he's ever had. If we consider Evidence and MFDoom producers then Reggie Noble and Eminem are too, right??

Johnny Badlees (crispssssss), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

DITC rules this thread.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Discounting them Beatnuts or RZA is probably the best.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Banner's a damn good call -- and speaking of which Bone Crusher's production work is pretty hot too.

haha what about Dizzee!!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 4 March 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

HAVOC

brains (cerybut), Thursday, 4 March 2004 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

large professor?

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 4 March 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Redmanshould be included in this discussion.

Nick H (Nick H), Thursday, 4 March 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Redman should, I mean

Nick H (Nick H), Thursday, 4 March 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

no mention of j-zone? y'all are wack.

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I'ma say RZA, but I'm gonna try and say Will.I.Am with a straight face. Here goes...

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 4 March 2004 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Which one of the BEPs is Will.I.Am? I downloaded that track that was up on Fluxblog awhile back and thought it was pretty good, although I haven't been keen on the BEP stuff I've heard.

Nick H (Nick H), Thursday, 4 March 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Aesop Rock does most of his own beats.

o. nate (onate), Thursday, 4 March 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

He's the one who rhymes like a goofy chuck d as i recall.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 4 March 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

honestly i'd take kayne over him, even tho will produces tracks that make me feel happier (and his raps make me feel happier too).

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 4 March 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Kool Keith

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 March 2004 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually Rza is #1 in my book, and after that it's a hodgepodge of Beatnuts, Cee-Lo (he produced every track on his first album; almost every beat on it was bad-the-fuck-ass), Kool Keith, Dr. Dre, Beatnuts, and I could've said Wyclef Jean two Wyclef solo albums ago.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha beatnuts so hot I put that shit twice!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

holy shit I totally forgot LYRICS BORN

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i really really like jay dee so i'm happy to see him get a rare mention on ILM but let's face it, his rhyming is pretty weak. it's nice to hear the voice and mind behind the music, and it's endearing and fun, but it's still weak.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm thinking david banner, though maybe just because he's freshest in my mind?? lil jon and kanye west are better producers but not really in the same league lyrically. rza and beatnuts: hard to say, sort of historical by this point.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick H, he's the only one with dreads now. The vaguely goofy dude with the 3/4 length trousers and silly hats fetish and who usually does the lead rhyming. Also, I couldn't hold that straight face, please forgive me for bringing him up.

Barima (Barima), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

he's totally the best dancer who raps and produces though!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

YO what about DJ Quik, Diamond, Showbiz, Ant Banks, Just Ice, Giodfather Don...

angel duster, Thursday, 4 March 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

it's the zig-zag-zig-allah for sure. RZA.
followed by MF Doom, then Havoc.

i love the way RZA rhymes. I can appreciate why others don't, but I just adore a convoluted marble-mouthed dude that sorta half makes cosmic sense. That sort of explains Doom too.

paulhw (paulhw), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 03:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Sensational
Beyababa of Occasional Detroit

Russ, Wednesday, 10 March 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

unless someone comes in and tells me that I have been assuming wrongly since I was 14 and that Carl Ryder is not a less-than-subtle contraction of Carlton Ridenhour then this thread is SO OVER.

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 22:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Chuck was part of the Bomb Squad but I hear he didn't contribute much.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

ONE mention of Large Professor!?

djdee2005, Thursday, 11 March 2004 00:57 (twenty-one years ago)

sounds about right. (he's not a very good on the mic)

oops (Oops), Thursday, 11 March 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

His technique is nothing to write home about but on the lyrical/conceptual tip - Friendly Game of Baseball, Looking At the Front Door...that's fantastic stuff.
Never mind that he's one of the best hip-hop producers uh ever.

djdee2005, Thursday, 11 March 2004 01:05 (twenty-one years ago)

true (re: his lyrics), but I always thought he was an overrated producer too.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 11 March 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)
