Song ID - weak description

I heard something faintly coming out of a speaker in a restaurant yesterday.

Sounded like a twangy Jad Fair or a louder Eugene Chadbourne.

The only lyric I heard was "It's all wrong" .. but it was repeated quite a bit. Seemed to be the only lyric, but I only caught about 30 seconds and I could barely hear it.

Any ideas?

jad fair? ed barton??? what kind of restaurants play that sort of stuff? i'd steer clear of the food, you wouldn't know what they'd put in it

I dunno if it's any help, but Googling for the repeated lyric "it's all wrong it's all wrong" gives two songs: REM's Pretty Persuasion & Reject All American by Bikini Kill.

My idea is go back to the restaurant and ask them.

They didn't know. (I'm sure someone in there knew.. probably they guy that everyone else hates because of his "weird" music taste.)

"Pretty Persuasion" sounds feasible. "Reckoning" is definitely quite twangy (thanks, Mitch Easter). You can listen to it on their website
http://www.remhq.com/flash/discography/discography.html
and see if that's the right song

I'm sure it wasn't - but thanks... It sounded like Jad Fair had joined up with another band .. except it didn't sound exactly like Jad Fair.. But it was more of a drone/speak .. "It's all wrong" piano plunking "It's all wrong"

And I couldn't really hear it that well - so it could have even been a female singer. Maybe it was the new Norah Jones for all I know...

Sure it wasn't "You do right. . .You do right"?

By Can?

Good thought .. but no...

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 4 March 2004 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Just listen to Pretty Persuasion instead.

God damned, you're confused.

DQE? Grace Braun? I have no idea really; just thinking "twangy Jad Fair", "possibly even female"...

Dairy Queen Empire, what a blast from the past!
