liking this music is totally making my not like myself. i don't like emo. i don't like idm. the mixture makes me happy?

JaXoN (JasonD), Thursday, 4 March 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate myself for loving you

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 4 March 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

the secret of this music = GURLZ LIEK IT

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i can't believe i like a group called "limp", that has a song called "souvlaki space station".

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i really hate all this shit except for the junior boys. i would argue it has something to do with "groove", but i think i hate each of them for different reasons.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

groove is in the <3

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i think it probably has to do with the fact that "indie pop" and "idm" are my least favorite variations on their respective parent genres, too.

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha screamo = vitalic

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I highly reccomend the difficult to find Figurine - one of their songs is total electro-emo, called IMpossible, about a guy who's girl has moved far away and they can only talk via instant messenger - its super sappy, but the programming is awesome

mr. blair, Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Figurine features Jimmy "DNTEL" Tamborello.

paul c (paul c), Thursday, 4 March 2004 20:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Gygax! pointed it out already, but search all Daedelus, esp. his full lengths on Plug Research...

Also search Schneider TM - The Light 3000 (really pretty, glitchy Smiths cover).

Incidentally, this HAS to be the most-maligned genre on this board.

Ben Boyer (Ben Boyer), Friday, 5 March 2004 01:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i like some morr and childisc but yeah i genearlly think the meeting place of indie pop and emotronix and anticon hip hop is a pasty pastel cesspit of doom.

Don't worry, folks, something *good* that folks will say fits this genre is coming along. I can say no more.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 5 March 2004 08:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Múm qualify, surely?

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

half of those bands aren't even remotely electronic. Isobella? Seaworthy? Aereogramme? Flying Saucer Attack?!

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)

the list should have called itself "bands that might appear on a Darla compilation" and be done with it

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 5 March 2004 09:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Komeit are quite good.

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 5 March 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I just got the, very nice, Super Furry Animals remix album in here, and see no reason why it can't be shoehorned into this spurious genre.
