Knowing only that Anstruther is probably the best place in Britain to get fish and chips, I'm intrigued if the music produced there is anywhere near as good. I loved James Yorkston's moving up country and he's connected in some way with them, but from what I read I fear it's a bunch of second rate Badly Drawn Boy soundalikes.

none of it is really very badly drawn boy at all. it's folky and psychy and kinda interesting and some of it's very good but it's patchy too. domino have pretty much put out the best Fence records.

Actually MTV (through some guys from sweden who is great) made a whol eprogram about them. check this out www.thisisourmusic.tv also a program about NYC scene with Books, ANimal Collective, Donna Summer, etc
and a program on the Helsinki scene more too come form Sweden etc etc etc.

Their stuff can be hit and miss, best bet is to grab one of their compilations, whose names escape me at the moment and see what you like off them.
I love the King Creosote and the Pip Dylan albums, Lone Pigeon's Concubine rice is a cracker, although I'm not as keen on his 'new' album, 'Shmoozie something or other'
