just barely good enough for me to listen to. i'd take proswell for the hip-hoppy whimsical nostaligia tip over cvj any day

i'm really amazed there arent MORE carpetbagging boc clones, honestly.

the world demands a rough guide to carpetbagging boc clones, surely

populous is an entirely adequate boc clone. nice and crunchy beats, awesome textures.

casino vs japan is bland as hell.

They are good. Obviously, they (he, whatever) aren't stylistic innovators, and the beats are nothing special, but on Whole Numbers and much of Go Hawaii and the new comp of early stuff, the pieces themselves are fresh and expressive. Plenty of others - Arovane, Freescha and Christ come to mind - are more deserving of the stale, mere BOC clone tag. I hear as much Tangerine Dream or even Prokofiev in Casino vs. Japan. Besides, I just like them.

Whole numbers play the basics and Go Hawaii are fantastic albums, his latest one which is a collection of his earlier stuff is not quite as succesful, its an good double which could have made a great single album.
I'd agree with Curt, he's no inovator, but its still top nice stuff

It's Very Sunny, The Possible Light and Aquarium are all lovely

Indeed. I got to know them through It's Very Sunny appearing on the Bomb The Bass Breezeblock set. Yes its bland background music, but hey, we can't all be edgey hipsters all of the time, can we?

I wouldn't bother shelling out for one of the albums. Actually, just download the Bomb the Bass set. It's fabulous.
