Could be hotly anticipated or not at all. I was going to do this in the What Have You Bought Recently thread, but I haven't bought these CDs, I just have them to listen to for a while, unlike all you critic people that get to keep everything.

besides a couple hundred mp3 albums sitting on my hd, i think all i have is 100% ginuwine a pal mailed me as a joke sometime last year.

i like ginuwine though so the joke's on him!

or maybe it is on me for liking ginuwine :/

brian badword (badwords), Saturday, 6 March 2004 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, it's hip to like Ginuwine, haven't you heard?? That album is like all produced by Timbaland.

I should know, I bought it myself not three weeks ago :/

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 6 March 2004 06:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a lot smaller than it used to be. I just chucked some of them away, and feel a lot better for it!

Just picked up:
Venom - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
John Digweed - Global Underground 019 Los Angeles (hey, it was only 0,49 euro!)
Death - Spiritual Healing
Daft Punk - Discovery
At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours/With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness
The History Of Rotterdam Records

I've already got most of these on tape/cdr/mp3 so it's not an entirely new experience, but that's what I'll be listening to in the next few hours.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 6 March 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

some CDs i bought recently on sale but have yet to actually listen to:

kitchens of distinction - the death of cool
k./low - split ep
low - one more reason to forget
einstürzende neubauten - strategies against architecture iii
sightings - s/t
v/a - bulb singles #2
mocket - fanfare
billy childish - 25 years of being childish
strapping fieldhands - gobs on the midway
+ too many MP3s to bother listing

so what do i listen to first?

Andrew Calaman (Andrew Calaman), Saturday, 6 March 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

andrew - listen to Gobs on the Midway, especially the first third of it. Cracked psychedelic folk music for pirates. Rules.

My stack-o-stuff, some I have to review, some not:

Teen Cthulu LP
Joe Tex - Let He Who Is Without Funk Cast The First Stone LP
Sodom - One Night in Bangock live CD

aww hell there's a shitload and I can't even be bothered to list it all

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 6 March 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

so what do i listen to first?

the death of cool. mach schnell, androo!

joseph (joseph), Saturday, 6 March 2004 18:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I have so many unlistened-to CDs I got from the radio station when we clearing out that it's not even funny. Anytime I'm hungry for music I haven't heard (just anything) I've got the collective works of Gumball, Guttermouth, Jacob's Mouse, Jack Drag and all the other shit we didn't need anymore. Rockity rock rock.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 6 March 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

though the only stuff I've heard so far that was worth keeping was a Kitchens Of Distinction album and a 2cd Thin White Rope live album.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 6 March 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Both good choices.

As for me -- AHAHAHAAHAHA. I think it's in the four digit range now if you count the mp3 dumps.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 6 March 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

the flirts best of.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 6 March 2004 19:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i buy something and then go home and listen to it. is this strange behavior?

keith m (keithmcl), Saturday, 6 March 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Reactions:
Venom - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
good stuff, but it doesn't add much to the studio versions (which sounded like bad live recordings anyway)
John Digweed - Global Underground 019 Los Angeles
can't...remember...soooo...sleeeeepy....
Death - Spiritual Healing
fucking great of course
Daft Punk - Discovery
all too familiar, really. still love it to death, esp "Aerodynamic"
At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours/With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness
"With Fear..." is definitely the better of the two albums. This is all so much better than their last two albums, it's not even funny.
The History Of Rotterdam Records
disappointing actually...those proto-gabber tunes have certainly aged badly and this comp ignores some of the best stuff of those days.

Siegbran (eofor), Saturday, 6 March 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

it's fucking huge, even listing it would take up valuable listening time. it's predominantly recent indieish stuff from the second quarter of 2003 til now.

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 7 March 2004 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Tonight I listened to part of Nellie McKay and The Bad Plus, Olivia Tremor Control's Black Foliage, Roosevelt Franklin (twice), Revolutionary Hydra, Outernationalists, ah thats it, then I watched Cheaters. Plenty more shitty music for another day, nothing too exciting by the looks of it. Maybe Ambulance LTD, I liked their EP sort of, but I think they have the potential to suck. Oh and U-God has a solo album that promises to be of low-quality with zero Wu-Tang guest spots.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 7 March 2004 10:00 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus, there's nothing in the entire thread so far that's worth listening to! well, imho and all that, but...reviewers get sent some awful shit, huh?

paulhw (paulhw), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 03:04 (twenty-one years ago)

There's at least 100 of the little bastards at the moment and I don't realy want to think about it.
