this might be the best debut album this mellow felllow has heard in a while...granted, I hear less than than the aberage ilmxr since i have the slowest computer speed and stark budgetary problems.
Van Hunt sings and gets me feeling pretty good about myself. I cant remember when i could say that about a new artist.

anyone care to comment that has heard it? thanks.

He was on the radio the other day(NPR)and the stuff they played sounded kinda cool. They played this one rock number off his album that i'd like to hear the rest of cuz it sounded really weird(in a good way).It was all bombastic and had something to do with him being crazy.

He's playing at King Tut's tonight. Should I go?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 14:26 (twenty years ago)

The buzz about him is incredible...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 14:47 (twenty years ago)

I can't resist a buzz. Maybe it's sold out.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 14:52 (twenty years ago)

I haven't seen him, but the album rules. Go go go. And report back, plz.

Rick Massimo (Rick Massimo), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

OK, it's not sold out. I shall go and report back.

His website says the next place he's playing after King Tut's is the Universal Amphitheatre, L.A., which seems a bit of jump.

I'm so glad he made a new video for "Dust." I was sure it was going to be a huge Summer single last year, but it fizzled. Maybe this will give it another chance.

Jeff Reguilon (Talent Explosion), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

Bought the album on the way home. This is good! It's good to have the odd recent male R&B record in my collection - I usually don't get past the women. Only on track 2 so far.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 9 March 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

So did you go?

Rick Massimo (Rick Massimo), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

Van Hunt is good, but Maktub is better. At least "Khronos" was. The new album is good but not great.

Mr Deeds (Mr Deeds), Thursday, 10 March 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

I went. Very few other people did. He was pretty good. 'Seconds of Pleasure' was a highlight for me. He covered the Stones' 'Miss You' at one point. I'm ashamed to say I had drunk too much by the time he came on to really be able to review it properly. I think we were pretty good for such a small crowd though.

Man I've been kind of losing it for this guy's stuff lately.
Last night this came on at the club I was at and it was like oooooooooh sexy.

album from '06 is great too. "Being a Girl" is whoa.
Was initially resistant to how...rock it is in parts. I mean he's a straight up rock artist, basically, on maybe 60% of his album. If that kind of genre hairsplitting is really meaningful.

really need to see his live show apparently, how often do you see an R&B-labeled dude with that many live vids on youtube??
