Anyone have an idea what the list price is gonna be on the new RSD box? I kinda want it, but not if it's gonna be more than $60, since I already have a DVD copy of the film, and probably won't look at the book more than once. The soundtrack LPs look interesting, though.
Also, am I the only one tired of 'custom' wood boxes?
― Wimmels, Saturday, 19 March 2016 15:07 (nine years ago)
my friend screenprinted those boxes. still, fuck custom boxes.
and yes, RIP steve young. very sad. heard from a few firends the other night, who then launched into a great version of rock salt & nails (yes i know it's a utah philips tune originally.)

saw this for the first time & loved iti have seen a lot of these clips before but had never watched it all togethercould watch Guy Clark forever <3i dunno if its ok to say but I kinda liked the DAC stuff? the way it just shows various things about him, things that don’t really go together, just like “here you go” - singing a beautiful ballad; dressing like a rodeo version of Macho Man Randy Savage at a prison concert; getting a convoy to Nashville Also i love seeing Steve Young’s “Alabama Highways” so coked up he’s gnawing his own face off - wild that he can be that high & still sing & play like it’s no big deal

Then you will probably enjoy the documentary about Guy Clark with lots of air time for Suzanna Clark, Townes and others. It’s a very moving story about their lives.

Tamara Saviano, who co-produced/directed/wrote the doc, also wrote a bio of the same title, and co-produced this real good trib (only clunker I recall: the track by Rodney Crowell, of all people; maybe the emotional weight was too great, since the Clarks meant so much to him ever since he first came to Nashville):
This One's for Him: Tribute to Guy Clark

2012 two CD collection, released to coincide with Guy Clark's 70th birthday. Artists include Rodney Crowell, Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Shawn Colvin, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Emmylous Harris and John Prine, Patty Griffin, Ron Sexsmith, Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle, Vince Gill, Jerry Jeff Walker and others. The collection was lovingly produced by Grammy-winning producer Tamara Saviano (Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster) and frequent Clark co-writer Shawn Camp ("Sis Draper," "Magnolia Wind"). The tribute includes 30 tracks by 33 Americana artists who are friends and colleagues of Clark or who have been influenced by his remarkable compositions. The collection was mixed and mastered by Austin's Cedar Creek Records principal Fred Remmert.
