Pretty sure that's him.
Also, this:"The Hospitals (feat. John Dwyer of the Coachwhips)"from http://www.litloungenyc.com/lit_events.htm
I was thrown off by the name "Roddy" too.Maybe the drummer/singer lives in Portland?
On some level this makes sense.Bummed.

me: "Dwyer is in The Hospitals now?"
Lit: "He's touring with them and playing, so yeah. Simonetti listed it too on the Boogaloo update a while back."

Best album of 2008, easy. The most idiosyncratic, unique and disturbing 'noise' album since Wax Work Echoes
PS Dwyer is not in the band and I actually heard these dudes and Dwyer are, err, not 'buds'

thanks for the heads up. I've been listening to some Graham Lambkin records lately, curious what The Shadow Ring sounds like.

At one point or another, Dwyer was playing in a touring version of this band. Dunno, maybe things went south. And though I haven't heard Hairdryer Peace, going on their track record so far, they're well shy of Coachwhips/OCS in terms of worth-listening-to-ness.
Lots of hype for the new one, tho. I'm at least curious.

The Shadow Ring are/were rad. Nothing nothing NOTHING like past Hospitals records, however...

wow waht

For the record, I didn't mean to give the impression that Hairdryer Peace sounds ANYTHING like Shadow Ring. Just that it's just as good - and unique - as Shadow Ring.
And while I like the older 'garage noise' Hospitals stuff, this one may as well have come out under a different band name. Total reinvention. Doesn't sound like ANYTHING else.
